a Congregational minister, was born Jan. 31,1786, at Norwich, Conn. He graduated at Yale College in 1804, entered the ministry in Sept. 1806, and was ordained co-pastor of the Old South Church, Boston, May 18,1808, where he labored until his death, Sept. 11,1819. He was one of the founders of the "American Educational Society," and President of the. "Boston Society for the Religious and Moral Instruction of the Poor" from its formation in 1816.
