an Episcopal clergyman, was born at Little Falls Forge, Pa. He entered. the ministry in early manhood, being at first identified with the Lutheran Church; was professor of Latin in Pennsylvania College for several years; afterwards president of Capital University, Columbus, Ohio; and was also at one time president of Illinois State University, Springfield. He changed his ecclesiastical relations about 1863, entering the Protestant Episcopal Church, and was connected with the diocese of Illinois. During the last five years of his life he was rector successively at Harlem and. Oak Park, Ill. He died at Chicago, September 5, 1876, aged sixty-four years.
