a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, was born in Augusta, Oneida Co., N.Y., June 2, 1802. He professed conversion in his sixteenth year, and received license as a local preacher when twenty. In 1824 he was admitted on trial in the Genesee Conference. During his active ministry he served as presiding elder on the Chenango, Cayuga, Susquehanna, and Wyoming districts; and also five years as chaplain to Auburn state prison. In 1873 he took a superannuated relation, which he held until his death, at Washington, D.C., Oct. 8, 1876. He was for some time previous a member of the Wyoming Conference.
