a German scholar, was born May 14, 1762, at Erbisdorf, near Freiburg. He studied theology and philosophy at Leipsic, and was appointed in 1788 professor of elocution at Gera; in 1803 he was called to Grimma as rector of the academy, retired from his office in 1823, and died May 20, 1832. He wrote, De Dialecto Alexandrina Ratione simul Habita Version. Libr. Vet. Test. Graec. (Lips. 1786): - De Dialecto Macedonica et Alexandrina (ibid. 1808): - De Dialecto Alexandrina (Gera, 1788-94, diss. 1-4): Circumcisio a Barbaris Gentibus ad Judoeos Translata (ibid. 1791); and edited Zonaroe Glosses Sacroe N.T.
