an eminent Dutch Protestant divine, was born at Ghent, Oct. 3, 1573. He officiated as pastor at several different places; declared in favor of the Counter-remonstrants, and was one of those who drew up the canons of the Synod of Dort. He afterwards became professor of divinity at Leyden, and died July 9, 1639. He wrote, Compendium Ethicas Aristoteliae (1636), and the greater part of the translation of the Flemish Bible.
