וַיִּשְׁאַל֩

בַּֽיהוָ֤ה ׀

הַֽכַּרְמְלִֽי׃

wa·’ă·nā·šāw

וַאֲנָשָׁ֧יו

bring up [were]

and with his household

and they dwelled

way·yê·šə·ḇū

וַיֵּשְׁב֖וּ

in the cities

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙

and they anointed

way·yim·šə·ḥū-

וַיִּמְשְׁחוּ־

And they told

way·yag·gi·ḏū

וַיַּגִּ֤דוּ

of Jabesh-gilead

וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח

of Jabesh-gilead

May you be blessed

covenant loyalty

אֲדֹֽנֵיכֶם֙

and have buried

wat·tiq·bə·rū

וַֽתִּקְבְּר֖וּ

covenant loyalty

will requite

kindness you

you have done

Therefore now

be strengthened

te·ḥĕ·zaq·nāh

תֶּחֱזַ֣קְנָה

let your hands

’ă·ḏō·nê·ḵem

have anointed

and brought him over

way·ya·‘ă·ḇi·rê·hū

וַיַּעֲבִרֵ֖הוּ

ma·ḥă·nā·yim.

And made him king

way·yam·li·ḵê·hū

וַיַּמְלִכֵ֙הוּ֙

hag·gil·‘āḏ,

over the Ashurites

הָאֲשׁוּרִ֖י

אַרְבָּעִ֨ים

when he began to reign

bə·mā·lə·ḵōw

וּשְׁתַּ֥יִם

bə·ḥeḇ·rō·wn

בְּחֶבְר֖וֹן

And went out

and the servants

of Ish-bosheth

from Mahanaim

mim·ma·ḥă·na·yim

מִֽמַּחֲנַ֖יִם

giḇ·‘ō·w·nāh.

גִּבְעֽוֹנָה׃

and the servants

way·yip̄·gə·šūm

וַֽיִּפְגְּשׁ֛וּם

and they sat down

way·yê·šə·ḇū

וַיֵּ֨שְׁב֜וּ

hab·bə·rê·ḵāh

and the other

hab·bə·rê·ḵāh

Let the young men

han·nə·‘ā·rîm,

הַנְּעָרִ֔ים

וִֽישַׂחֲק֖וּ

lə·p̄ā·nê·nū;

Let them arise

and Then there arose

way·yā·qu·mū

and went over

way·ya·‘aḇ·rū

וַיַּעַבְר֣וּ

for Benjamin

lə·ḇin·yā·min,

לְבִנְיָמִ֗ן

[pertained] that to Ish-bosheth

of the servants

And they caught

way·ya·ḥă·zi·qū

וַֽיַּחֲזִ֜קוּ

his companion

[thrust] and [thrust] his sword

of his fellow

so they fell down

way·yip·pə·lū

וַֽיִּפְּל֖וּ

and was called

lam·mā·qō·wm

Helkath-hazzurim

[is] in Gibeon

bə·ḡiḇ·‘ō·wn.

בְּגִבְעֽוֹן׃

And there was

ham·mil·ḥā·māh

הַמִּלְחָמָ֛ה

and was beaten

way·yin·nā·ḡep̄

וַיִּנָּ֤גֶף

the servants

וַיִּֽהְיוּ־

wa·’ă·ḇî·šay

וַאֲבִישַׁ֖י

wa·‘ă·śā·h·’êl;

וַעֲשָׂהאֵ֑ל

wa·‘ă·śā·h·’êl

וַעֲשָׂהאֵל֙

[was as] light

בְּרַגְלָ֔יו

haṣ·ṣə·ḇā·yim

is in the field

בַּשָּׂדֶֽה׃

way·yir·dōp̄

וַיִּרְדֹּ֥ף

do he turned

and hand nor to

haś·śə·mō·wl,

הַשְּׂמֹ֔אול

from following

‘ă·śā·h·’êl;

And he answered

Turn you aside

śə·mō·le·ḵā,

and lay you hold

of the young

mê·han·nə·‘ā·rîm,

מֵֽהַנְּעָרִ֔ים

ḥă·li·ṣā·ṯōw;

‘ă·śā·h·’êl,

from following

mê·’a·ḥă·rāw.

מֵאַחֲרָֽיו׃

‘ă·śā·h·’êl,

Turn you aside

from following

mê·’a·ḥă·rāy;

should I strike you

to the ground

should I hold up

your brother

and however he refused

way·yak·kê·hū

וַיַּכֵּ֣הוּ

with the butt

of the spear him

and came out

[rib] that the spear

mê·’a·ḥă·rāw,

and he fell down

way·yip·pāl-

in the same place

(תַּחְתָּ֑יו

and it came to pass

[that] as came

ham·mā·qō·wm

and stood still

way·ya·‘ă·mō·ḏū.

וַֽיַּעֲמֹֽדוּ׃

way·yir·də·p̄ū

וַֽיִּרְדְּפ֛וּ

also and Abishai

wa·’ă·ḇî·šay

וַאֲבִישַׁ֖י

wə·haš·še·meš

וְהַשֶּׁ֣מֶשׁ

of the wilderness

And gathered themselves together

way·yiṯ·qab·bə·ṣū

וַיִּֽתְקַבְּצ֤וּ

the children

la·’ă·ḡud·dāh

way·ya·‘am·ḏū,

וַיַּ֣עַמְד֔וּ

hă·lā·ne·ṣaḥ

shall devour

the sword you

bā·’a·ḥă·rō·w·nāh;

בָּאַחֲרוֹנָ֑ה

and how until

from following

their brothers

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm,

הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים

you had spoken

דִּבַּ֑רְתָּ

in the morning

mê·hab·bō·qer

מֵֽהַבֹּ֙קֶר֙

from following

baš·šō·w·p̄ār,

בַּשּׁוֹפָ֔ר

way·ya·‘am·ḏū

וַיַּֽעַמְדוּ֙

they any more

lə·hil·lā·ḥêm.

לְהִלָּחֵֽם׃

wa·’ă·nā·šāw,

וַֽאֲנָשָׁ֗יו

through the plain

bā·‘ă·rā·ḇāh,

בָּֽעֲרָבָ֔ה

and passed over

way·ya·‘aḇ·rū

וַיַּעַבְר֣וּ

hay·yar·dên,

הַיַּרְדֵּ֗ן

and went through

way·yê·lə·ḵū

וַיֵּֽלְכוּ֙

hab·biṯ·rō·wn,

הַבִּתְר֔וֹן

and they came

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

ma·ḥă·nā·yim.

wə·yō·w·’āḇ,

from following

and together

וַיִּקְבֹּ֖ץ

all the people

there lacked

way·yip·pā·qə·ḏū

וַיִּפָּ֨קְד֜וּ

But the servants

mib·bin·yā·min,

מִבִּנְיָמִ֔ן

וּבְאַנְשֵׁ֖י

[so that] three

וְשִׁשִּׁ֛ים

And they took up

וַיִּשְׂאוּ֙

‘ă·śā·h·’êl,

and buried him

way·yiq·bə·ru·hū

וַֽיִּקְבְּרֻ֙הוּ֙

in the sepulcher

of his father

[was in] Bethlehem

way·yê·lə·ḵū

hal·lay·lāh,

wa·’ă·nā·šāw,

וַֽאֲנָשָׁ֔יו

and at break of day

bə·ḥeḇ·rō·wn.

בְּחֶבְרֽוֹן׃
