of Belshazzar

bê·lə·šaṣ·ṣar

בֵּלְאשַׁצַּ֣ר

[even unto] Daniel

that appeared

bat·tə·ḥil·lāh.

בַּתְּחִלָּֽה׃

in the vision

when it came to pass

בְּשׁוּשַׁ֣ן

[in] the palace

[is] in the province

ham·mə·ḏî·nāh;

הַמְּדִינָ֑ה

in the vision

be·ḥā·zō·wn,

Then I lifted up

[two] that had horns

qə·rā·nā·yim;

[two] and the horns [were]

wə·haq·qə·rā·na·yim

וְהַקְּרָנַ֣יִם

gə·ḇō·hō·wṯ,

but one [was]

wə·hā·’a·ḥaṯ

and the higher

wə·hag·gə·ḇō·hāh,

וְהַ֨גְּבֹהָ֔ה

bā·’a·ḥă·rō·nāh.

בָּאַחֲרֹנָֽה׃

mə·nag·gê·aḥ

and northward

wə·ṣā·p̄ō·w·nāh

and southward

do might stand

[was there any] that could deliver

from his power

as he pleased

and became great

וְהִגְדִּֽיל׃

ham·ma·‘ă·rāḇ

הַֽמַּעֲרָב֙

and the goat

wə·haṣ·ṣā·p̄îr,

וְהַ֨צָּפִ֔יר

[had] a notable

haq·qə·rā·na·yim,

הַקְּרָנַ֔יִם

at him in his mighty

and I saw him

וּרְאִיתִ֞יו

and he was moved with anger

way·yiṯ·mar·mar

וַיִּתְמַרְמַ֤ר

וַיְשַׁבֵּר֙

to withstand

but he cast him down

way·yaš·lî·ḵê·hū

וַיַּשְׁלִיכֵ֤הוּ

to the ground

and stamped on

way·yir·mə·sê·hū,

וַֽיִּרְמְסֵ֔הוּ

and there was

from his power

Therefore the he

became very great

[himself] exceedingly

when he was strong

ū·ḵə·‘ā·ṣə·mōw,

וּכְעָצְמ֗וֹ

נִשְׁבְּרָה֙

hag·gə·ḏō·w·lāh,

הַגְּדוֹלָ֔ה

and it came up

wat·ta·‘ă·le·nāh

וַֽתַּעֲלֶ֜נָה

notable ones

תַּחְתֶּ֔יהָ

toward the four

haš·šā·mā·yim.

הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃

of them them

miṣ·ṣə·‘î·rāh;

מִצְּעִירָ֑ה

wat·tiḡ·dal-

וַתִּגְדַּל־

that became exceedingly

the pleasant

And it became great

וַתִּגְדַּ֖ל

[even] the host

haš·šā·mā·yim;

הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם

and it cast down

to the ground

[some] the host

hak·kō·w·ḵā·ḇîm

הַכּוֹכָבִ֖ים

and stamped on

wat·tir·mə·sêm.

וַֽתִּרְמְסֵֽם׃

[himself] the prince

he magnified

ū·mim·men·nū

וּמִמֶּ֙נּוּ֙

was taken away

and was cast down

וְהֻשְׁלַ֖ךְ

and the place

of His sanctuary

מִקְדָּשֽׁוֹ׃

[him] the daily

[sacrifice] by reason of transgression

and it cast down

וְתַשְׁלֵ֤ךְ

to the ground

and it practiced

wə·‘ā·śə·ṯāh

and prospered

wə·hiṣ·lî·ḥāh.

וְהִצְלִֽיחָה׃

Then I heard

wā·’eš·mə·‘āh

וָאֶשְׁמְעָ֥ה

to that certain

lap·pal·mō·w·nî

לַפַּֽלְמוֹנִ֣י

[saint] that spoke

ham·ḏab·bêr,

הַֽמְדַבֵּ֗ר

[shall be] the vision

[concerning] the daily

[sacrifice] and the transgression

wə·hap·pe·ša‘

וְהַפֶּ֣שַׁע

of desolation

and both the sanctuary

and the host

to be trampled

two thousand

Then shall be cleansed

the sanctuary

And it came to pass

[even] Daniel

he·ḥā·zō·wn;

wā·’ă·ḇaq·šāh

וָאֲבַקְשָׁ֣ה

to understand

as the appearance

[the banks of] Ulai

and that called

גַּבְרִיאֵ֕ל

[man] to understand

ham·mar·’eh.

הַמַּרְאֶֽה׃

when he came

I was afraid

wā·’ep·pə·lāh

[shall be] the vision

he·ḥā·zō·wn.

Now as he was speaking

ū·ḇə·ḏab·bə·rōw

וּבְדַבְּר֣וֹ

I was in a deep sleep

נִרְדַּ֥מְתִּי

toward the ground

but he touched

way·yig·ga‘-

way·ya·‘ă·mî·ḏê·nî

וַיַּֽעֲמִידֵ֖נִי

I will make you know

mō·w·ḏî·‘ă·ḵā,

מוֹדִֽיעֲךָ֔

at the final

bə·’a·ḥă·rîṯ

בְּאַחֲרִ֣ית

of the indignation

pertains to the appointed

[two] horns [are]

haq·qə·rā·nā·yim;

הַקְּרָנָ֑יִם

and the goat

wə·haṣ·ṣā·p̄îr

וְהַצָּפִ֥יר

[is] the king

and the horn

wə·haq·qe·ren

hag·gə·ḏō·w·lāh

הַגְּדוֹלָה֙

[is] his eyes

hā·ri·šō·wn.

הָרִאשֽׁוֹן׃

Now that being broken

wə·han·niš·be·reṯ,

וְהַ֨נִּשְׁבֶּ֔רֶת

and stood up

wat·ta·‘ă·mō·ḏə·nāh

וַתַּֽעֲמֹ֥דְנָה

whereas four

תַּחְתֶּ֑יהָ

mal·ḵu·yō·wṯ

from [his] nation

shall stand up

ya·‘ă·mō·ḏə·nāh

יַעֲמֹ֖דְנָה

in his power

and in the latter time

ū·ḇə·’a·ḥă·rîṯ

וּֽבְאַחֲרִית֙

of their rule

have come to the full

when the transgressors

hap·pō·šə·‘îm;

הַפֹּשְׁעִ֑ים

shall stand up

and understanding

dark sentences

And shall be mighty

by his own power

and wonderfully

wə·nip̄·lā·’ō·wṯ

וְנִפְלָא֥וֹת

he shall destroy

and shall prosper

wə·hiṣ·lî·aḥ

וְהִצְלִ֣יחַ

and practice

and shall destroy

וְהִשְׁחִ֥ית

and the people

and to prosper

wə·hiṣ·lî·aḥ

וְהִצְלִ֤יחַ

also he shall cause craft

by his influence

[himself] in his heart

ū·ḇil·ḇā·ḇōw

וּבִלְבָב֣וֹ

he shall magnify

and by peace

ū·ḇə·šal·wāh

וּבְשַׁלְוָ֖ה

shall destroy

he shall also stand up

ū·ḇə·’e·p̄es

but he shall be broken

and the vision

of the evening

and the morning

wə·hab·bō·qer

and Why shut you up

he·ḥā·zō·wn,

[shall be] it for many

and was sick

wə·ne·ḥĕ·lê·ṯî

וְנֶֽחֱלֵ֙יתִי֙

[certain] days

and afterward I rose up

wā·’e·‘ĕ·śeh

וָאֶֽעֱשֶׂ֖ה

and I was astonished

wā·’eš·tō·w·mêm

וָאֶשְׁתּוֹמֵ֥ם
