And it came to pass

and were dim

wat·tiḵ·he·nā

וַתִּכְהֶ֥יןָ

and he called

therefore take

your weapons

and your bow

wə·qaš·te·ḵā;

וְקַשְׁתֶּ֑ךָ

to the field

מַטְעַמִּ֜ים

and bring it

wə·hā·ḇî·’āh

that I may eat

wə·’ō·ḵê·lāh;

may bless you

tə·ḇā·reḵ·ḵā

תְּבָרֶכְךָ֥

to the field

שָׁמַ֙עְתִּי֙

your brother

מַטְעַמִּ֖ים

that I may eat

wə·’ō·ḵê·lāh;

and bless you

wa·’ă·ḇā·reḵ·ḵāh

וַאֲבָרֶכְכָ֛ה

according to that which

of the goats

and I will make

wə·’e·‘ĕ·śeh

וְאֶֽעֱשֶׂ֨ה

מַטְעַמִּ֛ים

for your father

And you shall bring [it]

to your father

that he may eat

he may bless you

yə·ḇā·reḵ·ḵā

will feel me

yə·muš·šê·nî

יְמֻשֵּׁ֙נִי֙

and I shall seem

in his sight

as a deceiver

kim·ṯa‘·tê·a‘;

כִּמְתַעְתֵּ֑עַ

and I shall bring

qil·lā·ṯə·ḵā

way·yiq·qaḥ,

and brought [them]

to his mother

maṭ·‘am·mîm,

מַטְעַמִּ֔ים

ha·ḥă·mu·ḏōṯ,

[were] with her

in the house

and put them on

וַתַּלְבֵּ֥שׁ

of the goats

הִלְבִּ֖ישָׁה

the smooth part

צַוָּארָֽיו׃

And she gave

the savory food

ham·maṭ·‘am·mîm

הַמַּטְעַמִּ֛ים

she had prepared

into the hand

your firstborn

bə·ḵō·re·ḵā,

according as

דִּבַּ֖רְתָּ

wə·’ā·ḵə·lāh

tə·ḇā·ră·ḵan·nî

תְּבָרֲכַ֥נִּי

you have found it

that I may feel you

wa·’ă·muš·ḵā

וַאֲמֻֽשְׁךָ֖

whether you [are]

And went near

and he felt him

way·muš·šê·hū;

וַיְמֻשֵּׁ֑הוּ

[is] the voice

but the hands

wə·hay·yā·ḏa·yim

וְהַיָּדַ֖יִם

[are] the hands

he recognized him

as his brother

so he blessed him

way·ḇā·rə·ḵê·hū.

וַֽיְבָרְכֵֽהוּ׃

Bring [it] near

and I will eat

wə·’ō·ḵə·lāh

to the end that

may bless you

tə·ḇā·reḵ·ḵā

תְּבָֽרֶכְךָ֖

And he brought [it] near

way·yag·geš-

and he did eat

and he brought

and he drank

וַיֵּֽשְׁתְּ׃

And he came near

way·yiš·šaq-

and he smelled

of his garments

and blessed him

way·ḇā·ră·ḵê·hū;

וַֽיְבָרֲכֵ֑הוּ

[is] as the smell

and may give

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm,

haš·šā·ma·yim,

הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם

and the fatness

ū·miš·man·nê

וּמִשְׁמַנֵּ֖י

of the earth

ya·‘aḇ·ḏū·ḵā

יַֽעַבְד֣וּךָ

[wə·yiš·ta·ḥū

[וְיִשְׁתַּחוּ

they bow down

(wə·yiš·ta·ḥă·wū

(וְיִֽשְׁתַּחֲו֤וּ

unto nations

of your brothers

lə·’a·ḥe·ḵā,

and may bow down

wə·yiš·ta·ḥăw·wū

וְיִשְׁתַּחֲוּ֥וּ

of your mother

those who curse you

And blessed [be]

ū·mə·ḇā·ră·ḵe·ḵā

וּֽמְבָרֲכֶ֖יךָ

those who bless you

And it came to pass

had finished

the presence

from his hunting

and had made

maṭ·‘am·mîm,

מַטְעַמִּ֔ים

it to his father

to his father

Let my father

may bless me

tə·ḇā·ră·ḵan·nî

תְּבָרֲכַ֥נִּי

your firstborn

And trembled

way·ye·ḥĕ·raḏ

trembling exceedingly

[is] he that

and brought [it]

and I have eaten

and have blessed him

wā·’ă·ḇā·ră·ḵê·hū;

וָאֲבָרֲכֵ֑הוּ

of his father

then he cried

to his father

your brother

with subtlety

and has taken away

your blessing

bir·ḵā·ṯe·ḵā.

בִּרְכָתֶֽךָ׃

Is not he rightly

for he has supplanted me

way·ya‘·qə·ḇê·nî

וַֽיַּעְקְבֵ֙נִי֙

p̄a·‘ă·ma·yim,

my birthright

he took away

he has taken away

have you not

And answered

I have made him

his brothers

have I given

la·‘ă·ḇā·ḏîm,

and with grain

have I sustained him

סְמַכְתִּ֑יו

have you but one

[even] my father

And lifted up

וַיֵּֽבְךְּ׃

And answered

away from the fatness

מִשְׁמַנֵּ֤י

of the earth

your dwelling

mō·wō·šā·ḇe·ḵā,

מֽוֹשָׁבֶ֔ךָ

and of the dew

haš·šā·ma·yim

הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם

shall you live

your brother

and it shall come to pass

you shall have the dominion

that you shall break

ū·p̄ā·raq·tā

וּפָרַקְתָּ֥

ṣaw·wā·re·ḵā.

צַוָּארֶֽךָ׃

וַיִּשְׂטֹ֤ם

of the blessing

hab·bə·rā·ḵāh,

הַ֨בְּרָכָ֔ה

had blessed him

for my father

then will I slay

wə·’a·har·ḡāh

וְאַֽהַרְגָ֖ה

and were told

and she sent

וַתִּשְׁלַ֞ח

lə·ya·‘ă·qōḇ

your brother

does comfort himself

[the thought of] killing you

lə·hā·rə·ḡe·ḵā.

לְהָרְגֶֽךָ׃

wə·yā·šaḇ·tā

וְיָשַׁבְתָּ֥

with him a few

of your brother

of your brother

and he forgets

you have done

then I will send

wə·šā·laḥ·tî

וְשָׁלַחְתִּ֖י

and fetch you

ū·lə·qaḥ·tî·ḵā

וּלְקַחְתִּ֣יךָ

should I be deprived

of the daughters

from the daughters

mib·bə·nō·wṯ-

such as these

from the daughters

mib·bə·nō·wṯ

[shall be] my life
