And they returned

וַיָּשֻׁ֣בוּ

וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ

Why have you at all

hê·‘ă·ḇar·tā

הֵעֲבַ֨רְתָּ

hay·yar·dên,

הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן

into the hand

of the Amorites

lə·ha·’ă·ḇî·ḏê·nū;

לְהַאֲבִידֵ֑נוּ

we had been content

on the other side

הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃

their enemies

וְיִשְׁמְע֣וּ

For the Canaanites

הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֗י

וְהִכְרִ֥יתוּ

to your great

and they have also

transgressed

for they have even

the accursed thing

and have also

they have put [it]

among their own goods

בִכְלֵיהֶֽם׃

Therefore the children

their enemies

’ō·yə·ḇê·hem,

[their] backs

[but] turned

their enemies

’ō·yə·ḇê·hem,

אֹֽיְבֵיהֶ֔ם

you any more

תַשְׁמִ֛ידוּ

the accursed

from your midst

miq·qir·bə·ḵem.

מִֽקִּרְבְּכֶֽם׃

wə·’ā·mar·tā

וְאָמַרְתָּ֖

sanctify yourselves

hiṯ·qad·də·šū

הִתְקַדְּשׁ֣וּ

against tomorrow

[There is] an accursed thing

in your midst

bə·qir·bə·ḵā

בְּקִרְבְּךָ֙

your enemies

’ō·yə·ḇe·ḵā,

you take away

hă·sî·rə·ḵem

the accursed thing

from your midst

miq·qir·bə·ḵem.

מִֽקִּרְבְּכֶֽם׃

therefore you shall be brought

wə·niq·raḇ·tem

וְנִקְרַבְתֶּ֥ם

In the morning

by your tribes

lə·šiḇ·ṭê·ḵem;

לְשִׁבְטֵיכֶ֑ם

and it shall be

[that] the tribes

yil·kə·ḏen·nū

יִלְכְּדֶ֨נּוּ

lam·miš·pā·ḥō·wṯ,

לַמִּשְׁפָּח֗וֹת

[thereof] and the family

wə·ham·miš·pā·ḥāh

וְהַמִּשְׁפָּחָ֞ה

yil·kə·ḏen·nāh

יִלְכְּדֶ֤נָּה

by households

lab·bāt·tîm,

and the household

wə·hab·ba·yiṯ

וְהַבַּ֙יִת֙

yil·kə·ḏen·nū

יִלְכְּדֶ֣נּוּ

lag·gə·ḇā·rîm.

לַגְּבָרִֽים׃

And it shall be

[that] he who is taken

הַנִּלְכָּ֣ד

with the things

shall be burned

he has transgressed

the covenant

he has worked

bə·yiś·rā·’êl.

בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

so rose up early

וַיַּשְׁכֵּ֤ם

yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘

יְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙

in the morning

לִשְׁבָטָ֑יו

and was taken

way·yil·lā·ḵêḏ

וַיִּלָּכֵ֖ד

And he brought

מִשְׁפַּ֣חַת

וַיִּלְכֹּ֕ד

מִשְׁפַּ֣חַת

of the Zarhites

and he brought

מִשְׁפַּ֤חַת

of the Zarhites

lag·gə·ḇā·rîm,

לַגְּבָרִ֔ים

and was taken

way·yil·lā·ḵêḏ

וַיִּלָּכֵ֖ד

And he brought

his household

lag·gə·ḇā·rîm;

לַגְּבָרִ֑ים

and was taken

way·yil·lā·ḵêḏ,

וַיִּלָּכֵ֗ד

from the tribe

yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘

you have done

And answered

yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘

against the LORD

among the spoil

then I coveted them

wā·’eḥ·mə·ḏêm

וָֽאֶחְמְדֵ֖ם

וָֽאֶקָּחֵ֑ם

תַּחְתֶּֽיהָ׃

וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח

[it was] hid

bə·’ā·ho·lōw

and the silver

wə·hak·ke·sep̄

תַּחְתֶּֽיהָ׃

And they took them

way·yiq·qā·ḥūm

וַיִּקָּחוּם֙

out of the middle

and brought them

yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘,

the children

and laid them out

way·yaṣ·ṣi·qum

וַיַּצִּקֻ֖ם

yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘

hā·’ad·de·reṯ

his daughers

and they brought

way·ya·‘ă·lū

to the valley

yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘

יְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙

have you troubled

‘ă·ḵar·tā·nū,

עֲכַרְתָּ֔נוּ

shall trouble

יַעְכֳּרְךָ֥

us? the LORD

way·yir·gə·mū

וַיִּרְגְּמ֨וּ

way·yiś·rə·p̄ū

וַיִּשְׂרְפ֤וּ

and after they had stoned

way·yis·qə·lū

וַיִּסְקְל֥וּ

bā·’ă·ḇā·nîm.

בָּאֲבָנִֽים׃

And they raised

way·yā·qî·mū

וַיָּקִ֨ימוּ
