Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

כָּרַר a root not used in Kal.

(1) prop. to go, or move in a circle, compare the kindred but softer roots גָּלַל and חוּל. Hence כֹּר prop. a round vessel, i.q. גֹּל, גֻּלָּה.

(2) to dance (comp. חוּל No. 1; Gr. with a prefixed sibilant, σκαίρω), to exult, to leap (see כַּר a lamb, so called from its leaping); also, to run, whence כַּר No. 2, a camel’s saddle (comp. curro, currus, carrus, carrum; Engl. to carry).

Piel כִּרְכֵּר to dance, 2 Samuel 6:14, 16 2 Samuel 6:16, i.q. רִקֵּד in the parallel place, 1 Chronicles 15:29. Hence כִּרְכָּרוֹת dromedaries, from their bounding motion.

From כִּרְכֵּר in the first signification of going round, is derived the secondary triliteral כָּרַךְ to surround, and the noun כִּכָּר for כִּרְכָּר a circle, a circuit.
