They told him that Jesus from NazarethJesus the Nazarene; the Gk. Nazoraios may be a word play between Heb. netser, meaning branch (see Isaiah 11:1), and the name">[fn] was coming by.

As they were listening to this, Jesushe">[fn] went on to tell a parable because he was near Jerusalem and because the peoplethey">[fn] thought that the kingdom of God would appear immediately.Acts 1:6;">[xr]

At the right time he sent a servant to the farmers in order that they might give him his share of the produce of the vineyard. But the farmers beat him and sent him back empty-handed.

He sent another servant, and they beat him, too, treated him shamefully, and sent him back empty-handed.

Then he sent a third, and they wounded him and threw him out, too.
