I am weary from grief;strengthen me through your word.

I am a friend to all who fear you,to those who keep your precepts.

I am yours; save me,for I have studied your precepts.

I am severely afflicted;Lord, give me life according to your word.

I am resolved to obey your statutesto the very end.

I am your servant; give me understandingso that I may know your decrees.

I am insignificant and despised,but I do not forget your precepts.

I am awake through each watch of the nightto meditate on your promise.

I am for peace; but when I speak,they are for war.

This wondrous knowledge is beyond me.It is lofty; I am unable to reach it.

If I counted them,they would outnumber the grains of sand;when I wake up, I am still with you.

Listen to my cry,for I am very weak.Rescue me from those who pursue me,for they are too strong for me.

I spread out my hands to you;I am like parched land before you.Selah

and in your faithful love destroy my enemies.Wipe out all those who attack me,for I am your servant.

for I am giving you good instruction.Don’t abandon my teaching.

I am teaching you the way of wisdom;I am guiding you on straight paths.

I am on the verge of complete ruinbefore the entire community.”

Who can say, “I have kept my heart pure;I am cleansed from my sin”?

I am more stupid than any other person,and I lack a human’s ability to understand.

There is a person without a companion, without even a son or brother, and though there is no end to all his struggles, his eyes are still not content with riches. “Who am I struggling for,” he asks, “and depriving myself of good things?” This too is futile and a miserable task.
