And Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor, save in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.

And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands on a few sick folk, and healed them.

And king Herod heard [thereof], for his name had become known. And they said, John the Baptist is risen from the dead, and therefore do these powers work in him.

For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold on John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife; for he had married her.

And when a convenient day came, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, and the generals, and the chief men of Galilee;

And the king was exceeding sorry; but for the sake of his oaths, and of those that sat to eat, he would not reject her.

And right away the king sent forth a soldier of his guard, and commanded to bring his head: and he went and beheaded him in the prison,

and brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the girl; and the girl gave it to her mother.

And when his disciples heard [thereof], they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb.

And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came to him, and said, The place is desert, and the day is now far spent;

And he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and broke the loaves; and he gave to his disciples to set before them; and the two fish he divided among them all.

And right away he constrained his disciples to enter into the boat, and to go before [him] to the other side to Bethsaida, while he himself sends the multitude away.

And wherever he entered, into villages, or into cities, or into the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and implored him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.

and had seen that some of his disciples ate their bread with defiled, that is, unwashed, hands.

but you say, If a man shall say to his father or his mother, That with which you might have been profited by me is Corban, that is to say, Given [to God];

you no longer allow him to do anything for his father or his mother;

And when he had entered into the house from the multitude, his disciples asked of him the parable.

because it does not go into his heart, but into his belly, and goes out into the toilet? [This he said], making all meats clean.

But right away a woman, whose little daughter had an unclean spirit, having heard of him, came and fell down at his feet.

And they bring to him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they urge him to lay his hand on him.
