A jar of sour wine was sitting there. So they soaked a sponge in the wine, put it on a stalk of hyssop, and lifted it to His mouth.

When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished." And bowing His head, He yielded up His spirit.

But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs.

Instead, one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water flowed out.

The one who saw it has testified to this, and his testimony is true. He knows that he is telling the truth, so that you also may believe.

Now these things happened so that the Scripture would be fulfilled: "Not one of His bones will be broken."

Afterward, Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus (but secretly for fear of the Jews), asked Pilate to let him remove the body of Jesus. Pilate gave him permission, so he came and removed His body.

After He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.

If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you withhold forgiveness from anyone, it is withheld."

So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he replied, "Unless I see the nail marks in His hands, and put my finger where the nails have been, and put my hand into His side, I will never believe."

Eight days later, His disciples were once again inside with the doors locked, and Thomas was with them. Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you."

Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book.

But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.

Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" As soon as Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it) and jumped into the sea.

This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who has written them down. And we know that his testimony is true.

After His suffering, He presented Himself to them with many convincing proofs that He was alive. He appeared to them over a span of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.

Jesus replied, "It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by His own authority.

With one accord they all continued in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.

(With the reward for his wickedness Judas bought a field; and there he fell headlong and burst open in the middle, and all his intestines spilled out.

"For it is written in the book of Psalms: 'May his place be deserted; let there be no one to dwell in it,' and, 'May another take his position.'
