The Word became flesh and tabernacledpitched his tent">[fn] among us. From his fullness we have all received one gracious gift after another.grace for grace">[fn]John 3:34; Ephesians 1:6-8; Colossians 1:19; 2:9-10;">[xr]

The next day John was standing there again with two of his disciples.

AndrewHe">[fn] first found his brother Simon and said to him, "We have found the Messiah" (which is translated "Christ").[fn]

and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.

His mother told the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."

Jesus did this, the firstbeginning">[fn] of his signs, in Cana of Galilee. He revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.John 1:14;">[xr]

After this, Jesushe">[fn] went down to Capernaum - he, his mother, his brothers, and his disciples - and they remained there for a few days.Matthew 12:46;">[xr]

His disciples remembered that it was written, "Zeal for your house will consume me."Psalm 69:9">[fn]Psalm 69:9;">[xr]

But the sanctuary he was speaking about was his own body.1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19; 2 Corinthians 6:16; Colossians 2:9; Hebrews 8:2;">[xr]

After he had been raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this. So they believed the Scripture and the statement that Jesus had made.spoken">[fn]Luke 24:8;">[xr]

While Jesushe">[fn] was in Jerusalem for the Passover Festival, many people believed in his name because they saw the signs that he was doing.

Nicodemus said to him, "How can a person be born when he is old? He can't go back into his mother's womb a second time and be born, can he?"

"For this is how God loved the world: He gave his unique Son so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but have eternal life.Romans 5:8; 1 John 4:9;">[xr]

For everyone who practices wickedness hates the light and does not come to the light, so that his actions may not be exposed.exposed that they are evil">[fn]Job 1:24:13,17; Ephesians 5:13;">[xr]

But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that all may seeso that it may be revealed">[fn] that his actions have been done in God."

After this, Jesus and his disciples went into the Judean countryside. He spent some time there with them and began baptizing.John 4:2;">[xr]

He testifies about what he has seen and heard, yet no one accepts his testimony.John 3:11; 8:26; 15:15;">[xr]

The person who has accepted his testimony has acknowledged that God is truthful.true">[fn]Romans 3:4; 1 John 5:10;">[xr]

The Father loves the Son and has put everything in his hands.Matthew 11:27; 28:18; Luke 10:22; John 5:20,22; 13:3; 17:2; Hebrews 2:8;">[xr]
