Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

No longer do I call you slaves; for the slave doesn't know what his lord does: but I have called you friends; for all things that I heard from my Father, I have made known to you.

Remember the word that I said to you, A slave is not greater than his lord. If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also.

[Some] of his disciples therefore said one to another, What is this that he says to us, A little while, and you don't see me; and again a little while, and you shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?

His disciples say, Look, now you speak plainly, and speak no dark saying.

Look, the hour comes, yes, has come, that you shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and [yet] I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

These things Jesus spoke; and lifting up his eyes to heaven, he said, Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son, that the son may glorify you:

When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Kidron, where a garden was, into which he entered, himself and his disciples.

Now Judas also, who betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus often-times resorted there with his disciples.

Simon Peter therefore having a sword drew it, and struck the high priest's slave, and cut off his right ear. Now the slave's name was Malchus.

The high priest therefore asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his teaching.

And when he had said this, one of the attendants standing by struck Jesus with his hand, saying, Do you answer the high priest so?

Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. They said therefore to him, Are you also [one] of his disciples? He denied, and said, I am not.

And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and arrayed him in a purple garment;

The soldiers therefore, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also the coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.

These things therefore the soldiers did. But there were standing by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the [wife] of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by whom he loved, he says to his mother, Woman, here is your son.

Then he says to the disciple, Here is your mother. And from that hour the disciple took her to his own [home].

There was set there a vessel full of vinegar: so they put a sponge full of the vinegar on hyssop, and brought it to his mouth.

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up his spirit.
