With his wife's full knowledge he kept back some of the money for himself and brought only a part of it and laid it at the apostles' feet.Acts 4:37;">[xr]

After an interval of about three hours, his wife came in, not knowing what had happened.

She instantly fell down at his feet and died. When the young men came in, they found her dead. So they carried her out and buried her next to her husband.Acts 5:5;">[xr]

So the commander of the temple guards went with his men to bring them back without force, because they were afraid of being stoned to death by the people.Matthew 21:26;">[xr]

He said, "We gave you strict orders not to teach in his name, didn't we? Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to bring this man's blood on us!"Matthew 23:35; 27:25; Acts 2:23,36; 3:15; 4:18; 7:52;">[xr]

God has exalted to his right hand this very man as our Leader and Savior in order to give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel.Matthew 1:21; Luke 24:47; Acts 2:33,36; 13:38; Ephesians 1:7; Philippians 2:9; Colossians 1:14; Hebrews 2:10; 12:2;">[xr]

For in days gone by Theudas appeared, claiming that he was important, and about 400 men joined him. He was killed, and all his followers were dispersed and disappeared.

After that man, at the time of the census, Judas the Galilean appeared and got people to follow him. He, too, died, and all his followers were scattered.

Then all who were seated in the CouncilSanhedrin">[fn] glared at him and saw that his face was like the face of an angel.

So he left the country of the Chaldeans and settled in Haran. Then after the death of his father, God had him move to this country where you now live.Genesis 11:31; 12:4-5;">[xr]

He gave him no property in it, not even a foot of land, yet he promised to give it to him and his descendants after him as a permanent possession, even though he had no child.Genesis 12:7; 13:15; 17:8; 26:3;">[xr]

This is what God promised: His descendants would be strangers in a foreign country, and its peoplethey">[fn] would enslave them and oppress them for 400 years.Genesis 15:13,16; Exodus 12:40; Galatians 3:17;">[xr]

and rescued him from all his troubles. He allowed him to win favor and show wisdom before Pharaoh, king of Egypt, who appointed him ruler of Egypt and of his whole household.Genesis 41:37; 42:6;">[xr]

On their second visit Joseph made himself known to his brothers, and Joseph's family became known to Pharaoh.Genesis 45:4,16;">[xr]

Then Joseph sent wordword">[fn] and invited his father Jacob and all his relatives to come to him - seventy-five persons in all.Genesis 45:9,27; 46:27; Deuteronomy 10:22;">[xr]

"At this time Moses was born. He was beautiful in the sight of God, and for three months he was cared for in his father's house.Exodus 2:2; Hebrews 11:23;">[xr]

"When he was forty years old, his heart was moved to visit his brothers, the descendants of Israel.Exodus 2:11-12;">[xr]

He supposed that his brothers would understand that God was using him to rescue them, but they didn't understand.

But the man who was harming his neighbor pushed Moseshim">[fn] away and said, 'Who made you ruler and judge over us?Luke 12:14; Acts 4:7;">[xr]
