as you look forward to and hasten the coming of the day of God, by which the heavens will be set ablaze and dissolved and the elements will melt with fire.Psalm 50:3; Isaiah 34:4; Micah 1:4; 1 Corinthians 1:7; Titus 2:13; 2 Peter 1:10;">[xr]

This is the message that we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light, and in him there is no darkness - none at all!John 1:9; 8:12; 9:5; 12:35-36; 1 John 3:11;">[xr]

The person who practices sin belongs to the evil one, because the devil has been sinning since the beginning. The reason that the Son of God was revealed was to destroy the works of the devil.Genesis 3:15; Matthew 13:38; Luke 10:18; John 8:44; 16:11; Hebrews 2:14;">[xr]

No one who has been born from God practices sin, because God'shis">[fn] seed abides in him. Indeed, he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born from God.1 Peter 1:23; 1 John 5:18;">[xr]

This is how God's children and the devil's children are distinguished.are revealed">[fn] No person who fails to practice righteousness and to love his brother is from God.1 John 2:29; 4:8;">[xr]

Whoever has earthly possessions and notices a brother in need and yet withholds his compassion from him, how can the love of God remain in him?Deuteronomy 15:7; Luke 3:11; 1 John 4:20;">[xr]

If our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our hearts and knows everything.1 Corinthians 4:4;">[xr]

The person who keeps his commandments abides in God,in him">[fn] and God abides in him.and he in him">[fn] This is how we can be sure that he remains in us: he has given us his Spirit.John 14:23; 15:10; 17:21; Romans 8:9; 1 John 4:12-13;">[xr]

Dear friends, stop believingdo not believe">[fn] every spirit. Instead, test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.Jeremiah 29:8; Matthew 24:4-5,24; Acts 20:30; 1 Corinthians 14:29; 1 Thessalonians 5:21; 1 Timothy 4:1; 2 Peter 2:1; 1 John 2:18; 2 John 1:1:7; Revelation 2:2;">[xr]

This is how you can recognize God's Spirit: Every spirit who acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God.1 Corinthians 12:3; 1 John 5:1;">[xr]

But every spirit who does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist. You have heard that he is coming, and now he is already in the world.2 Thessalonians 2:7; 1 John 2:18,22; 2 John 1:1:7;">[xr]

Little children, you belong to God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.John 12:31; 14:30; 16:11; 1 Corinthians 2:12; Ephesians 2:2; 6:12; 1 John 5:4;">[xr]

We belong to God. The person who knows God listens to us. Whoever does not belong to God does not listen to us. This is how we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of deceit.Isaiah 8:20; John 8:47; 10:27; 14:17; 1 Corinthians 14:37; 2 Corinthians 10:7;">[xr]
