I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.John 20:31; 1 John 1:1-2;">[xr]

We know that the person who has been born from God does not go on sinning. Rather, the Sonthe one who has been born">[fn] of God protects them, and the evil one cannot harm them.James 1:27; 1 Peter 1:23; 1 John 3:9;">[xr]

We know that we are from God and that the whole world lies under the control of the evil one.Galatians 1:4;">[xr]

We also know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding so that we may know the true God.the true one">[fn] We are in union with the one who is true, his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.Isaiah 9:6; 44:6; 54:5; Luke 24:45; John 17:3; 20:28; Acts 20:28; Romans 9:5; 1 Timothy 3:16; Titus 2:13; Hebrews 1:8; 1 John 5:11-13;">[xr]

Grace, mercy, and peace will be with us from God the Father and from Jesusthe Lord Jesus">[fn] Christ, the Father's Son, in truth and love.1 Timothy 1:2; 2 John 1:1:1;">[xr]

Everyone who does not abide in the teaching of Christ but goes beyond it does not have God. The person who abides in the teaching of Christ has both the Father and the Son.1 John 2:23;">[xr]

They have testified before the church about your love. You will do well to send them on their way in a manner worthy of God.

Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The person who does what is good is from God. The person who does what is evil has never seen God.[xr]

They have testified before the church about your love. You will do well to send them on their way in a manner worthy of God. After all, they went on their trip for the sake of Christ's[fn] name, accepting no support from the Gentiles.[xr] Therefore, we ought to support such people so that we can become their helpers in spreading[fn] the truth. I wrote a letter[fn] to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to be in charge, will not accept us. For this reason, when I come I will call attention to what he is doing in spreading false charges against us. And not content with that, he refuses to accept the brothers. He even tries to stop those who want to accept them and throws them out of the church. Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The person who does what is good is from God. The person who does what is evil has never seen God.[xr] Demetrius has received a good report from everyone, including the truth itself. We, too, can testify to this, and you know that our testimony is true.[xr] Although I have a great deal to write to you, I would rather not write with pen and ink.[xr] Instead, I hope to see you soon and talk face to face. May peace be with you! Your friends greet you. Greet each of our friends by name.

For some people have slipped in among you unnoticed. They were written about long ago as being deserving of this condemnation because they are ungodly. They turn the grace of our God into uncontrollable lust and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.[xr]

to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, power, and authority before all time and for all eternity! Amen.[xr]

This is[fn] the revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants the things that must happen soon. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,[xr]

who testified to what he saw: the word of God and the testimony about Jesus Christ.[xr]

and has made us a kingdom, priests for his God and Father, be glory and power forever and ever! Amen.[xr]
