Dear friends, let us continually love one another, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born from God and knows God.1 John 3:10-11,22;">[xr]

The person who does not love does not know God, because God is love.1 John 2:4;">[xr]

This is how God's love was revealed among us: God sent his unique Son into the world so that we might live through him.John 3:16; Romans 5:8; 8:32; 1 John 3:16; 5:11;">[xr]

This is love: not that we have lovedwe loved">[fn] God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.John 15:16; Romans 5:8,10; Titus 3:4; 1 John 2:2;">[xr]

Dear friends, if this is the way God loved us, we must also love one another.Matthew 18:33; John 15:12-13; 1 John 3:16;">[xr]

No one has ever seen God. If we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us.John 1:18; 1 Timothy 6:16; 1 John 2:5,18; 4:20;">[xr]

God abides in the one who acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, and he abides in God.Romans 10:9; 1 John 5:1,5;">[xr]

We have come to know and believe in the love that God has for us. God is love, and the person who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.1 John 3:24;">[xr]

We lovelove him; still other mss. read love God">[fn] because he first loved us.

Whoever says, "I love God," but hates his brother is a liar. The one who does not love the brother whom he has seen cannot love a God whom he has not seen.1 John 2:4;">[xr]

And this is the commandment that we have from him: the person who loves God must also love his brother.Matthew 22:37,39; John 13:34; 15:12; 1 John 3:23;">[xr]

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ[fn] has been born from God, and everyone who loves the parent also loves the child.John 1:12-13; 15:23; 1 John 2:22-23;">[xr]

This is how we know that we love God's children: we love God and keep his commandments.

For this is the love of God: that we keep his commandments; and his commandments are not difficult,Micah 6:8; Matthew 11:30; John 14:15,21, 23; 15:10; 2 John 1:1:6;">[xr]

because everyone who is born from God has overcome the world. Our faith is the victory that overcomes the world.John 16:33; 1 John 3:9; 4:4;">[xr]

Who overcomes the world? Is it not the person who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?1 Corinthians 15:57; 1 John 4:15;">[xr]

If we accept human testimony, God's testimony is greater, because it is the testimony of God and because he has testified about his Son.Matthew 3:16-17; 17:5; John 8:17-18;">[xr]

The person who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in himself. The person who does not believe Godthe Son">[fn] has made him a liar by not believing the testimony that God has given about his Son.John 3:33; 5:38; Romans 8:16; Galatians 4:6;">[xr]

This is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is found in his Son.John 1:4; 1 John 2:25; 4:9;">[xr]

The person who has the Son has this life. The person who does not have the Son of God does not have this life.John 3:36; 5:24;">[xr]
