(Hebrew Alvan', עִלְוָן , tall; Sept. Γωλάμ ), the first named of the five sons of Shobal the Horite, of Mount Seir (Genesis 36:23); called less correctly ALIAN (See ALIAN) (Hebrew Alyane', עִלְיָן, Sept. Ι᾿ωλάμ ) in the parallel passage (1 Chronicles 1:40). B.C. cir. 1927.
