a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, was born in Virginia, Jan. 13, 1770. He was converted when about twenty, and soon, after began his ministry. He was sent to Kentucky as a: pioneer in 1790, where he endured privations and faced dangers that baffle description, with the fortitude and bravery of a martyr, sacrificing; one of the best constitutions ever given to man. Thousands were brought to Christ by his unflagging zeal and devotion. He departed this life in the triumphs of faith, Dec. 4, 185.. Mr. Burke was an intellectual giant, thoroughly consecrated.
