born in Leipzig, 1720, became professor of philosophy at Leipzig in 1747; professor of Greek at Helmstä dt, 1748. He published Liber doct. theol. purioris (1768): — Sacrae Exercitationes in Epist. ad Hebr. (1750): — Stricturce in Ep. ad Romans (1756): — Septenarius Epist. Cath. (1790). His repute as a philologist was very great. He died April 28, 1803.
