a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, was born and reared in Kentucky. He embraced religion early in life, and in 1851 entered the Memphis Conference. After two or three years of useful service, he went as missionary to California, subsequently returned to the regular work of the Memphis Conference, wherein he was faithful until the beginning of the Rebellion, when he became chaplain in the Confederate army, and was shot in the battle of Thompson's Station, Middle Tennessee, in 1863.
