a Congregational minister, was born in Boston, Massachusetts, March 16, 1772. He graduated at Harvard University in 1790, and studied theology for a year there and under Dr. Stillman. After preaching at several places, he was called to Jamaica Plain, where he was ordained, March 27, 1793. In 1843 he resigned in favor of his colleague, Joseph H. Allen. He died at Jamaica Plain, June 1, 1847. Gray was an agreeable, practical preacher, although it was as a pastor he was most conspicuous. See Christ.
