the name of a district (τὰ Τωβίου v.r. Τουβίου; Vulg. loca Tubin), where, in the time of the Maccabees, was an extensive colony of Jews (1 Maccabees 5, 13); probably identical with the land of TOB (See TOB) (q.v.) mentioned in the history of Jephthah (Judges 11:3, b).
