Warner, John (2), D.D.

an English clergyman, son of Dr. Ferdinando Warner, was born at Ronde, Wiltshire, in 1736. He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, from which he graduated in 1758; preached many years at a chapel in Long Acre; became rector of Hockliffe and Chalgrave, Bedfordshire, in 1771, and afterwards of Stourton, Wilts. He died in St. John's Square, Clerkenwell, January 20, 1800. He resided in France during the Revolution, and thus became an ardent republican. He was the author of Metronariston; or, A New Pleasure Recommended in a Dissertation upon a Part of Greek and Latin Prosody (Lond. 1797); and Memoirs of Mekerchus, in the Gentleman's Magazine.
