a clergyman of the Protestant Episcopal Church. His ministry was devoted to one object, the salvation of the Southern slaves, having had charge of several large plantations in Prince William County, Va. In 1854 he removed from the low country to Abbeville. S. C., to take charge of a white congregation, hoping to improve his health-by the change of climate; but he resigned the Church, and u was seeking relief at Wilson's Springs, N. C., in 1855, when he died, aged forty-five years. See Amer. Quar. Church Review, 1855, p. 482.
