a Baptist minister, was born, at Darlington, S.C., July 28,1828. He graduated froms Wake Forest College, N.C., in 1849; for two years. was a student of theology at Furman Institute, S.C.; from 1852 to 1854 agent of Wake Forest College, and; in the latter year was chosen president, which office he held for twenty-five years. He died February 27, 1879. (J.C.S.)
