Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(Hebrew Ami', אָמַי , prob. a corrupted form of the name Amon; Sept. ῾Ημεἰ ), the chief of a family that returned from Babylon (Ezra 2:57); more properly called AMON (See AMON) (q.v.) in the parallel passage (Nehemiah 7:59).
