וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֨ים

and chariots

and he went up

and besieged

šō·mə·rō·wn,

way·yil·lā·ḥem

וַיִּלָּ֖חֶם

וַיִּשְׁלַ֧ח

into the city

and your gold

ū·zə·hā·ḇə·ḵā

וּֽזְהָבְךָ֖

also and your children

[even] the best

haṭ·ṭō·w·ḇîm

And answered

according to your saying

kiḏ·ḇā·rə·ḵā

כִּדְבָרְךָ֖

And came again

way·yā·šu·ḇū

וַיָּשֻׁ֙בוּ֙

the messengers

ham·mal·’ā·ḵîm,

הַמַּלְאָכִ֔ים

way·yō·mə·rū,

וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ

to you saying

שָׁלַ֤חְתִּי

and your gold

ū·zə·hā·ḇə·ḵā

and your wives

and your children

you shall deliver

this time you

and they shall search

wə·ḥip·pə·śū

וְחִפְּשׂוּ֙

of your servants

‘ă·ḇā·ḏe·ḵā;

and it shall be

[that] is pleasant

in your eyes

they shall put

in their hand [it]

and take away

wə·lā·qā·ḥū.

for my wives

for my children

for my silver

וּלְכַסְפִּ֣י

and for my gold him

wə·liz·hā·ḇî,

וְלִזְהָבִ֔י

do I did not refuse

way·yō·mə·rū

וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ

haz·zə·qê·nîm

הַזְּקֵנִ֖ים

[unto him] consent

and Why he said

to the messengers

lə·mal·’ă·ḵê

לְמַלְאֲכֵ֣י

of Ben-hadad

you did send

your servant

at the first

ḇā·ri·šō·nāh

בָרִֽאשֹׁנָה֙

wə·had·dā·ḇār

la·‘ă·śō·wṯ;

And departed

way·yê·lə·ḵū

וַיֵּֽלְכוּ֙

the messengers

ham·mal·’ā·ḵîm,

הַמַּלְאָכִ֔ים

and brought him

way·ši·ḇu·hū

וַיְשִׁבֻ֖הוּ

וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח

and to him and said

yō·w·si·p̄ū;

shall suffice

šō·mə·rō·wn,

for handfuls

לִשְׁעָלִ֕ים

בְּרַגְלָֽי׃

And answered

do let [his harness] on boast himself

[him] him who girds

as he who puts it off

kim·p̄at·tê·aḥ.

כִּמְפַתֵּֽחַ׃

And it came to pass

[Benhadad] when heard

כִּשְׁמֹ֙עַ֙

and as he [was]

and the kings

wə·ham·mə·lā·ḵîm

וְהַמְּלָכִ֖ים

in the temporary

bas·suk·kō·wṯ;

בַּסֻּכּ֑וֹת

that he said

his servants

[yourselves in array] And they set

way·yā·śî·mū

וַיָּשִׂ֖ימוּ

[themselves in array] the city

have you seen

hə·rā·’î·ṯā,

hag·gā·ḏō·wl

I will deliver

it into your hand

that you shall know

wə·yā·ḏa‘·tā

וְיָדַעְתָּ֖

By the young

of the princes

of the provinces

ham·mə·ḏî·nō·wṯ;

הַמְּדִינ֑וֹת

Then he said

ham·mil·ḥā·māh

הַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה

And he answered

Then he numbered

way·yip̄·qōḏ,

the young men

of the princes

of the provinces

ham·mə·ḏî·nō·wṯ,

הַמְּדִינ֔וֹת

and they were

ū·šə·lō·šîm;

וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֑ים

and after them

wə·’a·ḥă·rê·hem,

וְאַחֲרֵיהֶ֗ם

[even] the children

[being] seven

And they went out

way·yê·ṣə·’ū

baṣ·ṣā·ho·rā·yim;

בַּֽצָּהֳרָ֑יִם

But Ben-hadad [was]

himself drunk

in the temporary

bas·suk·kō·wṯ,

בַּסֻּכּ֗וֹת

and the kings

wə·ham·mə·lā·ḵîm

וְהַמְּלָכִ֛ים

שְׁלֹשִֽׁים־

And went out

way·yê·ṣə·’ū,

the young men

of the princes

of the provinces

ham·mə·ḏî·nō·wṯ

הַמְּדִינ֖וֹת

bā·ri·šō·nāh;

בָּרִֽאשֹׁנָ֑ה

and sent out

וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח

and they told

way·yag·gî·ḏū

וַיַּגִּ֤ידוּ

There are men

miš·šō·mə·rō·wn.

מִשֹּׁמְרֽוֹן׃

they are come out

lə·mil·ḥā·māh

לְמִלְחָמָ֛ה

they are come out them

תִּפְשֽׂוּם׃

of the princes

of the provinces

ham·mə·ḏî·nō·wṯ;

הַמְּדִינ֑וֹת

and the army

wə·ha·ḥa·yil

’a·ḥă·rê·hem.

אַחֲרֵיהֶֽם׃

And they slew

way·yā·nu·sū

way·yir·də·p̄êm

וַֽיִּרְדְּפֵ֖ם

way·yim·mā·lêṭ,

וַיִּמָּלֵ֗ט

and Ben-hadad

and with the horsemen

ū·p̄ā·rā·šîm.

וּפָרָשִֽׁים׃

And went out

with a great

ḡə·ḏō·w·lāh.

hiṯ·ḥaz·zaq,

לִתְשׁוּבַ֣ת

will come up

And the servants

of the hills [are]

’ĕ·lō·hê·hem,

אֱלֹ֣הֵיהֶ֔ם

they were stronger

let us fight

against them

in the plain

bam·mî·šō·wr,

בַּמִּישׁ֔וֹר

do we shall be stronger

ham·mə·lā·ḵîm

הַמְּלָכִים֙

from his place

mim·mə·qō·mōw,

in their rooms

תַּחְתֵּיהֶֽם׃

like the army

that you have lost

and we will fight against

wə·nil·lā·ḥă·māh

וְנִֽלָּחֲמָ֤ה

in the plain

bam·mî·šō·wr,

בַּמִּישׁ֔וֹר

we shall be stronger

And he listened

וַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע

to their voice

And it came to pass

לִתְשׁוּבַ֣ת

and numbered

way·yip̄·qōḏ

that Ben-hadad

lam·mil·ḥā·māh

לַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

and the children

were numbered

hā·ṯə·pā·qə·ḏū

הָתְפָּקְדוּ֙

and were all present

wə·ḵā·lə·kə·lū,

וְכָלְכְּל֔וּ

way·yê·lə·ḵū

way·ya·ḥă·nū

and the children

little flocks

but the Syrians

And there came

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm,

of the hills

of the valleys

therefore will I deliver

wə·nā·ṯat·tî

hag·gā·ḏō·wl

into your hand

bə·yā·ḏe·ḵā,

you shall know

וִֽידַעְתֶּ֖ם

And they pitched

way·ya·ḥă·nū

וַֽיַּחֲנ֧וּ

over against

[so] that in the seventh

haš·šə·ḇî·‘î,

הַשְּׁבִיעִ֗י

and was joined

ham·mil·ḥā·māh,

הַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה

the children

of the Syrians

way·yā·nu·sū

han·nō·w·ṯā·rîm

הַנּוֹתָרִ֥ים ׀

[there] and a wall

ha·ḥō·w·māh,

[that were] left

han·nō·w·ṯā·rîm;

הַנּוֹתָרִ֑ים

into an inner

way·yō·mə·rū

וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ

his servants him

we have heard

of the house

on our loins

bə·mā·ṯə·nê·nū

בְּמָתְנֵ֜ינוּ

wa·ḥă·ḇā·lîm

on our heads

bə·rō·šê·nū,

בְּרֹאשֵׁ֗נוּ

he will save

so they girded

way·yaḥ·gə·rū

וַיַּחְגְּרוּ֩

on their loins

bə·mā·ṯə·nê·hem

בְּמָתְנֵיהֶ֜ם

[put] and [put] ropes

wa·ḥă·ḇā·lîm

on their heads

bə·rā·šê·hem,

בְּרָאשֵׁיהֶ֗ם

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙

way·yō·mə·rū,

וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ

your servant

ha·‘ō·w·ḏen·nū

הַעוֹדֶ֥נּוּ

wə·hā·’ă·nā·šîm

וְהָאֲנָשִׁים֩

did diligently observe

and did hastily

way·ma·hă·rū

וַֽיְמַהֲר֜וּ

way·yaḥ·lə·ṭū

וַיַּחְלְט֣וּ

whether from [it]

hă·mim·men·nū,

הֲמִמֶּ֗נּוּ

and they said

way·yō·mə·rū

וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙

your brother

Then he said

and came forth

Then Ben-hadad him

and he caused him to come up

way·ya·‘ă·lê·hū

וַֽיַּעֲלֵ֖הוּ

ham·mer·kā·ḇāh.

הַמֶּרְכָּבָֽה׃

[Benhadad] And said

I will restore

you shall make

for yourself in Damascus

ḇə·ḏam·me·śeq

בְדַמֶּ֙שֶׂק֙

as my father

bə·šō·mə·rō·wn,

בְּשֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹן

with this covenant

[said Ahab] will send you away

’ă·šal·lə·ḥe·kā;

אֲשַׁלְּחֶ֑ךָּ

way·yiḵ·rāṯ-

and sent him away

way·šal·lə·ḥê·hū.

וַֽיְשַׁלְּחֵֽהוּ׃

of the prophets

han·nə·ḇî·’îm,

הַנְּבִיאִ֗ים

his neighbor

lə·hak·kō·ṯōw.

לְהַכֹּתֽוֹ׃

שָׁמַ֙עְתָּ֙

to the voice

as soon as you are departed

and shall slay me

wə·hik·kə·ḵā

you And as soon as he was departed

and found him

way·yim·ṣā·’ê·hū

וַיִּמְצָאֵ֥הוּ

way·yak·kê·hū.

וַיַּכֵּֽהוּ׃

Then he found

way·yak·kê·hū

וַיַּכֵּ֥הוּ

so that in smiting

and he wounded

ū·p̄ā·ṣō·a‘.

way·ya·‘ă·mōḏ

for the king

and disguised

way·yiṯ·ḥap·pêś

וַיִּתְחַפֵּ֥שׂ

your servant

עַבְדְּךָ֣ ׀

into the middle

of the battle

ham·mil·ḥā·māh,

הַמִּלְחָמָ֗ה

turned aside

and to me and said

if by any means

he be missing

Then shall be

wə·hā·yə·ṯāh

else you shall pay

תִּשְׁקֽוֹל׃

as your servant

[shall] your judgment

miš·pā·ṭe·ḵā

מִשְׁפָּטֶ֖ךָ

yourself [are]

have decided

ḥā·rā·ṣə·tā.

And he hurried

and discerned

[was] of the prophets

mê·han·nə·ḇi·’îm

מֵֽהַנְּבִאִ֖ים

you have let go

שִׁלַּ֥חְתָּ

whom I appointed to utter destruction

[your] out of hand

and shall go

wə·hā·yə·ṯāh

therefore your life

and your people

wə·‘am·mə·ḵā

and displeased

šō·mə·rō·w·nāh.

שֹׁמְרֽוֹנָה׃
