וַיִּמָּלֵ֖ט

way·yiš·mə·‘ū

וַיִּשְׁמְע֤וּ

his brothers

of his father [it]

they went down

way·yê·rə·ḏū

and gathered

way·yiṯ·qab·bə·ṣū

וַיִּֽתְקַבְּצ֣וּ

[that was] in distress

discontented

and he became

and there were

כְּאַרְבַּ֥ע

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ׀

Let my father

and my mother

[and be] I know

And he brought

and they dwelled

way·yê·šə·ḇū

וַיֵּשְׁב֣וּ

bam·mə·ṣū·ḏāh.

בַּמְּצוּדָֽה׃

in the stronghold

bam·mə·ṣū·ḏāh,

בַּמְּצוּדָ֔ה

into the land

then departed

into the forest

וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע

was discovered

that the men

wa·’ă·nā·šîm

וַאֲנָשִׁ֖ים

בַּגִּבְעָ֜ה

on the height

and having his spear

wa·ḥă·nî·ṯōw

his servants [were]

to his servants

la·‘ă·ḇā·ḏāw

לַֽעֲבָדָיו֙

han·niṣ·ṣā·ḇîm

הַנִּצָּבִ֣ים

will the son

lə·ḵul·lə·ḵem,

of you fields

and vineyards you

ū·ḵə·rā·mîm,

lə·ḵul·lə·ḵem

of thousands

and captains

of you have conspired

קְשַׁרְתֶּ֨ם

who discloses

has made a league

to me when my son

[there is] you that is sorry

or discloses

has stirred up

to me that my son

to lie in wait

Then answered

hā·’ă·ḏō·mî,

the servants

’ă·ḥî·me·leḵ

אֲחִימֶ֖לֶךְ

And he inquired

way·yiš·’al-

וַיִּשְׁאַל־

of the LORD him

hap·pə·liš·tî

הַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֖י

וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח

’ă·ḥî·me·leḵ

אֲחִימֶ֨לֶךְ

of his father

hak·kō·hă·nîm

הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים

and they came

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

of them unto

And he answered

[am] I my lord

have you conspired

קְשַׁרְתֶּ֣ם

in that you have given

bə·ṯit·tə·ḵā

and have inquired

בֵּֽאלֹהִ֔ים

so that he would rise

to lie in wait

Then answered

’ă·ḥî·me·leḵ

אֲחִימֶ֛לֶךְ

your servants

[is so] faithful

and son-in-law

of that is the king

your bidding

miš·ma‘·te·ḵā

מִשְׁמַעְתֶּ֖ךָ

and is honorable

in your house

bə·ḇê·ṯe·ḵā.

בְּבֵיתֶֽךָ׃

ha·ḥil·lō·ṯî

[lə·šā·’ō·wl-

for him? be it far

do let impute

to his servant

בְּעַבְדּ֤וֹ

of the household

of my father

for your servant

you shall surely

’ă·ḥî·me·leḵ;

אֲחִימֶ֑לֶךְ

of your father

to the guards

han·niṣ·ṣā·ḇîm

הַנִּצָּבִ֨ים

וְהָמִ֣יתוּ ׀

But the servants

on the priests

[lə·ḏō·w·yêḡ

(lə·ḏō·w·’êḡ,

on the priests

bak·kō·hă·nîm;

בַּכֹּהֲנִ֑ים

hā·’ă·ḏō·mî,

way·yip̄·ga‘-

וַיִּפְגַּע־

on the priests

bak·kō·hă·nîm,

בַּכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים

wa·ḥă·miš·šāh

וַחֲמִשָּׁה֙

that did wear

of the priests

hak·kō·hă·nîm

הַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙

with the edge

of the sword

with the edge

way·yim·mā·lêṭ

וַיִּמָּלֵ֣ט

of Ahimelech

la·’ă·ḥî·me·leḵ

לַאֲחִימֶ֙לֶךְ֙

lə·’eḇ·yā·ṯār,

לְאֶבְיָתָ֗ר

hā·’ă·ḏō·mî,

there that he would surely

have occasioned
