הַמִּשְׁפָּטִ֔ים

la·‘ă·śō·wṯ;

to the end that

[them] you may live

וִֽירִשְׁתֶּ֣ם

of your fathers

’ă·ḇō·ṯê·ḵem

shall you add

shall you diminish

that you may keep

the commands

’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem,

אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֔ם

because of Baal-peor

has destroyed

הִשְׁמִיד֛וֹ

your God them

miq·qir·be·ḵā.

מִקִּרְבֶּֽךָ׃

that did cleave

had·də·ḇê·qîm,

הַדְּבֵקִ֔ים

your God [are]

’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem;

of you this day

I have taught

לִמַּ֣דְתִּי

and judgments

ū·miš·pā·ṭîm,

וּמִשְׁפָּטִ֔ים

that you should do

לְרִשְׁתָּֽהּ׃

ū·šə·mar·tem

וּשְׁמַרְתֶּם֮

therefore and do

wa·‘ă·śî·ṯem

וַעֲשִׂיתֶם֒

[is] your wisdom

ḥā·ḵə·maṯ·ḵem

חָכְמַתְכֶם֙

and your understanding

ū·ḇî·naṯ·ḵem,

וּבִ֣ינַתְכֶ֔ם

in the sight

of the nations

יִשְׁמְע֗וּן

wə·’ā·mə·rū,

and understanding

wə·nā·ḇō·wn,

hag·gā·ḏō·wl

[is there so] great

’ĕ·lō·hê·nū,

[things that] we call

[is there so] great

has statutes

and judgments

ū·miš·pā·ṭîm

וּמִשְׁפָּטִ֖ים

[so] righteous

hat·tō·w·rāh

had·də·ḇā·rîm

הַדְּבָרִ֜ים

from your heart

mil·lə·ḇā·ḇə·ḵā,

מִלְּבָ֣בְךָ֔

of your life

wə·hō·w·ḏa‘·tām

וְהוֹדַעְתָּ֥ם

to your sons

and your son

[Specially] the day

when the LORD

and I will make them hear

wə·’aš·mi·‘êm

וְאַשְׁמִעֵ֖ם

they may learn

hā·’ă·ḏā·māh,

their children

[that] and they may teach

yə·lam·mê·ḏūn.

יְלַמֵּדֽוּן׃

And you came near

wat·tiq·rə·ḇūn

וַתִּקְרְב֥וּן

wat·ta·‘am·ḏūn

וַתַּֽעַמְד֖וּן

the mountain

and the mountain

the [very] heart

haš·šā·ma·yim,

הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם

thick darkness

and with darkness

wa·‘ă·rā·p̄el.

from the midst

of the words

and similitude

[ye heard] a voice

And he declared

to you His covenant

He commanded

la·‘ă·śō·wṯ,

had·də·ḇā·rîm;

הַדְּבָרִ֑ים

and he wrote

way·yiḵ·tə·ḇêm,

וַֽיִּכְתְּבֵ֔ם

at that time me

that judgments

ū·miš·pā·ṭîm;

וּמִשְׁפָּטִ֑ים

you might do

la·‘ă·śō·ṯə·ḵem

לַעֲשֹׂתְכֶ֣ם

לְרִשְׁתָּֽהּ׃

wə·niš·mar·tem

וְנִשְׁמַרְתֶּ֥ם

Take you therefore good

to yourselves

lə·nap̄·šō·ṯê·ḵem;

לְנַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶ֑ם

of similitude

[that] the LORD

from the midst

תַּשְׁחִת֔וּן

[yourselves] and make

wa·‘ă·śî·ṯem

וַעֲשִׂיתֶ֥ם

a graven image

the similitude

the likeness

The likeness

[is] on the earth

the likeness

baš·šā·mā·yim.

בַּשָּׁמָֽיִם׃

The likeness

on the ground

bā·’ă·ḏā·māh;

the likeness

[is] in the waters

haš·šā·may·māh,

הַשָּׁמַ֗יְמָה

when you see

hay·yā·rê·aḥ

hak·kō·w·ḵā·ḇîm,

הַכּֽוֹכָבִ֗ים

[even] the host

haš·šā·ma·yim,

הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם

and should be driven

wə·nid·daḥ·tā

וְנִדַּחְתָּ֛

and to worship

wə·hiš·ta·ḥă·wî·ṯā

וְהִשְׁתַּחֲוִ֥יתָ

and serve them

wa·‘ă·ḇaḏ·tām;

וַעֲבַדְתָּ֑ם

haš·šā·mā·yim.

הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃

But the LORD

you and brought forth

out of the iron

mim·miṣ·rā·yim;

מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם

of inheritance

Furthermore the LORD

hiṯ·’an·nep̄-

דִּבְרֵיכֶ֑ם

way·yiš·šā·ḇa‘,

וַיִּשָּׁבַ֗ע

I should not

hay·yar·dên,

הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן

that I should not

ū·lə·ḇil·tî-

וּלְבִלְתִּי־

haṭ·ṭō·w·ḇāh,

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā,

[for] you an inheritance

For I will die

hay·yar·dên;

הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן

shall go over

וִֽירִשְׁתֶּ֕ם

haṭ·ṭō·w·ḇāh

hiš·šā·mə·rū

הִשָּׁמְר֣וּ

תִּשְׁכְּחוּ֙

the covenant

’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem,

אֱלֹ֣הֵיכֶ֔ם

you and make

wa·‘ă·śî·ṯem

וַעֲשִׂיתֶ֨ם

a graven image

[or] the likeness

has forbidden

[thing] the LORD

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā.

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā,

[is] a consuming

[even] a jealous

you shall father

and of children

and you shall have remained long

wə·nō·wō·šan·tem

וְנוֹשַׁנְתֶּ֖ם

and shall corrupt

wə·hiš·ḥat·tem,

וְהִשְׁחַתֶּ֗ם

[yourselves] and make

wa·‘ă·śî·ṯem

וַעֲשִׂ֤יתֶם

a graven image

[or] the likeness

[thing] and shall do

wa·‘ă·śî·ṯem

וַעֲשִׂיתֶ֥ם

in the sight

to provoke him to anger

lə·haḵ·‘î·sōw.

לְהַכְעִיסֽוֹ׃

against you this day

haš·šā·ma·yim

הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם

you shall soon

הַיַּרְדֵּ֛ן

לְרִשְׁתָּ֑הּ

ṯa·’ă·rî·ḵun

on it but shall utterly

be destroyed

tiš·šā·mê·ḏūn.

תִּשָּׁמֵדֽוּן׃

And shall scatter

among the nations

and you shall be left

wə·niš·’ar·tem

וְנִשְׁאַרְתֶּם֙

among the nations

bag·gō·w·yim

And you shall serve

wa·‘ă·ḇaḏ·tem-

וַעֲבַדְתֶּם־

יִשְׁמְע֔וּן

But you shall seek

ū·ḇiq·qaš·tem

וּבִקַּשְׁתֶּ֥ם

and you shall find

[him] you seek

ṯiḏ·rə·šen·nū,

תִדְרְשֶׁ֔נּוּ

for Him with all

and with all

When you are in tribulation

and have come

ū·mə·ṣā·’ū·ḵā

וּמְצָא֕וּךָ

had·də·ḇā·rîm

הַדְּבָרִ֣ים

in the latter

bə·’a·ḥă·rîṯ

בְּאַחֲרִית֙

and if you turn

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā,

and shall be obedient

wə·šā·ma‘·tā

וְשָׁמַעְתָּ֖

to His voice

[is] merciful

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā,

do forsake you

yaš·ḥî·ṯe·ḵā;

יַשְׁחִיתֶ֑ךָ

the covenant

of your fathers

’ă·ḇō·ṯe·ḵā,

that are past

רִֽאשֹׁנִ֜ים

lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā,

[ask] and from the one side

ū·lə·miq·ṣêh

וּלְמִקְצֵ֥ה

haš·šā·ma·yim

הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם

to the other

of the heavens

haš·šā·mā·yim;

הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם

whether there has been

[any such thing] great

hag·gā·ḏō·wl

[is] has been heard

[ever] Did people

from the midst

[another] of nation

and by wonders

ū·ḇə·mō·wp̄·ṯîm

וּבְמוֹפְתִ֜ים

ū·ḇə·mil·ḥā·māh,

וּבְמִלְחָמָ֗ה

ū·ḇiz·rō·w·a‘

וּבִזְר֣וֹעַ

by a stretched out

ū·ḇə·mō·w·rā·’îm

וּבְמוֹרָאִ֖ים

according to all

’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem

for you in Egypt

bə·miṣ·ra·yim

בְּמִצְרַ֖יִם

before your eyes

lə·‘ê·ne·ḵā.

לְעֵינֶֽיךָ׃

it was shown

that you might know

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm;

[there is] else

mil·ḇad·dōw.

מִלְבַדּֽוֹ׃

haš·šā·ma·yim

הַשָּׁמַ֛יִם

he made you to hear

hiš·mî·‘ă·ḵā

הִשְׁמִֽיעֲךָ֥

to discipline

lə·yas·sə·re·kā;

לְיַסְּרֶ֑ךָּ

hag·gə·ḏō·w·lāh,

הַגְּדוֹלָ֔ה

and his words you

from the midst

your fathers

’ă·ḇō·ṯe·ḵā,

therefore he chose

their offspring

and brought you out

way·yō·w·ṣi·’ă·ḵā

וַיּוֹצִֽאֲךָ֧

in his sight

with his mighty

out of Egypt

mim·miṣ·rā·yim.

מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃

To drive out

lə·hō·w·rîš,

and mightier

wa·‘ă·ṣu·mîm

out from before [are]

mip·pā·ne·ḵā;

you to bring you in

la·hă·ḇî·’ă·ḵā,

לַהֲבִֽיאֲךָ֗

[for] an inheritance

as it is today

wə·yā·ḏa‘·tā

וְיָדַעְתָּ֣

therefore this day

and consider

wa·hă·šê·ḇō·ṯā

וַהֲשֵׁבֹתָ֮

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm,

הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים

baš·šā·ma·yim

בַּשָּׁמַ֣יִם

and you shall keep

wə·šā·mar·tā

וְשָׁמַרְתָּ֞

therefore his statutes

his commands

mə·ṣaw·wə·ḵā

it may go well

and with your children

ū·lə·ḇā·ne·ḵā

וּלְבָנֶ֖יךָ

’a·ḥă·re·ḵā;

and to the end that

you may prolong

hā·’ă·ḏā·māh,

on this side

hay·yar·dên;

הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן

That the slayer

his neighbor

mit·tə·mō·wl

that fleeing

in times past

and he might live

[Namely] Bezer

in the wilderness

בַּמִּדְבָּ֛ר

on the plateau

in the plain

for the Reubenites

lā·ru·’ū·ḇê·nî;

לָרֻֽאוּבֵנִ֑י

בַּגִּלְעָד֙

for the Gadites

for the Manassites

לַֽמְנַשִּֽׁי׃

[is] the law

hat·tō·w·rāh;

the children

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

the testimonies

and the statutes

wə·ha·ḥuq·qîm

וְהַֽחֻקִּ֖ים

and the judgments

wə·ham·miš·pā·ṭîm;

וְהַמִּשְׁפָּטִ֑ים

after they came forth

out of Egypt

mim·miṣ·rā·yim.

מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃

On this side

הַיַּרְדֵּ֜ן

in the valley

over against

of the Amorites

hā·’ĕ·mō·rî,

bə·ḥeš·bō·wn;

בְּחֶשְׁבּ֑וֹן

and the children

after they came forth

out of Egypt

mim·miṣ·rā·yim.

מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃

And they possessed

way·yî·rə·šū

וַיִּֽירְשׁ֨וּ

of the Amorites

hā·’ĕ·mō·rî,

on this side

hay·yar·dên;

הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן

mê·‘ă·rō·‘êr

of the river

hā·‘ă·rā·ḇāh

on this side

הַיַּרְדֵּן֙

of the plain

hā·‘ă·rā·ḇāh;

hap·pis·gāh.
