through Pharaoh

the Egyptians

And they did

וַיַּֽעֲשׂוּ־

And it was told

and was turned

way·yê·hā·p̄êḵ

וַ֠יֵּהָפֵךְ

and of his servants

wa·‘ă·ḇā·ḏāw

and they said

וַיֹּֽאמרוּ֙

have we done

we have let go

שִׁלַּ֥חְנוּ

from serving us

mê·‘ā·ḇə·ḏê·nū.

מֵעָבְדֵֽנוּ׃

And he made ready

way·yiq·qaḥ,

the chariots

and captains

wə·šā·li·šim

וְשָׁלִשִׁ֖ם

And hardened

and he pursued

way·yir·dōp̄

וַיִּרְדֹּ֕ף

the children

and the children

way·yir·də·p̄ū

וַיִּרְדְּפ֨וּ

the Egyptians

’a·ḥă·rê·hem,

and overtook

way·yaś·śî·ḡū

וַיַּשִּׂ֤יגוּ

[and] chariots

and his horsemen

ū·p̄ā·rā·šāw

וּפָרָשָׁ֖יו

and his army

when Pharaoh

then lifted up

וַיִּשְׂאוּ֩

the children

the Egyptians

מִצְרַ֣יִם ׀

’a·ḥă·rê·hem,

and they were afraid

way·yî·rə·’ū

וַיִּֽירְאוּ֙

and cried out

way·yiṣ·‘ă·qū

וַיִּצְעֲק֥וּ

the children

And they said

way·yō·mə·rū

וַיֹּאמְרוּ֮

ha·mib·bə·lî

הַֽמִבְּלִ֤י

bə·miṣ·ra·yim,

בְּמִצְרַ֔יִם

have you taken us away

lə·qaḥ·tā·nū

לְקַחְתָּ֖נוּ

in the wilderness

bam·miḏ·bār;

בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר

have you done

to carry us forth

lə·hō·w·ṣî·’ā·nū

לְהוֹצִיאָ֖נוּ

out of Egypt

mim·miṣ·rā·yim.

מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃

דִּבַּ֨רְנוּ

ḇə·miṣ·ra·yim

בְמִצְרַ֙יִם֙

Let us alone

on account of

that we may serve

wə·na·‘aḇ·ḏāh

וְנַֽעַבְדָ֣ה

the Egyptians

the Egyptians

mim·mu·ṯê·nū

in the wilderness

bam·miḏ·bār.

בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃

הִֽתְיַצְב֗וּ

the salvation

he will show

you have seen

from the Egyptians

you shall see them

shall hold your peace

ta·ḥă·rî·šūn.

תַּחֲרִישֽׁוּן׃

the children

that they go forward

wə·yis·sā·‘ū.

וְיִסָּֽעוּ׃

and stretch out

and divide it

ū·ḇə·qā·‘ê·hū;

וּבְקָעֵ֑הוּ

and shall go

and the children

through the middle

on dry [land]

bay·yab·bā·šāh.

בַּיַּבָּשָֽׁה׃

I will harden

of the Egyptians

and they shall follow

’a·ḥă·rê·hem;

and I will get glory

wə·’ik·kā·ḇə·ḏāh

וְאִכָּבְדָ֤ה

on his chariots

בְּרִכְבּ֖וֹ

and on his horsemen

ū·ḇə·p̄ā·rā·šāw.

וּבְפָרָשָֽׁיו׃

and shall know

the Egyptians

when I have gotten glory

bə·hik·kā·ḇə·ḏî

בְּהִכָּבְדִ֣י

bə·p̄ar·‘ōh,

on his chariots

בְּרִכְבּ֖וֹ

and on his horsemen

ū·ḇə·p̄ā·rā·šāw.

וּבְפָרָשָֽׁיו׃

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm,

mê·’a·ḥă·rê·hem;

מֵאַחֲרֵיהֶ֑ם

of the cloud

from before their face

mip·pə·nê·hem,

מִפְּנֵיהֶ֔ם

way·ya·‘ă·mōḏ

וַיַּֽעֲמֹ֖ד

mê·’a·ḥă·rê·hem.

מֵאַחֲרֵיהֶֽם׃

and darkness

wə·ha·ḥō·šeḵ,

וְהַחֹ֔שֶׁךְ

but it gave light

hal·lā·yə·lāh;

it came near

hal·lā·yə·lāh.

הַלָּֽיְלָה׃

And stretched out

and caused to go back

way·yō·w·leḵ

hal·lay·lāh,

into dry [land]

le·ḥā·rā·ḇāh;

and were divided

way·yib·bā·qə·‘ū

וַיִּבָּקְע֖וּ

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

the children

into the middle

on the dry [land]

bay·yab·bā·šāh;

בַּיַּבָּשָׁ֑ה

and the waters

wə·ham·ma·yim

to them on their right

on their right

and on their left

ū·miś·śə·mō·lām.

וּמִשְּׂמֹאלָֽם׃

way·yir·də·p̄ū

וַיִּרְדְּפ֤וּ

the Egyptians

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

’a·ḥă·rê·hem,

his chariots

and his horsemen

ū·p̄ā·rā·šāw;

וּפָרָשָׁ֑יו

And it came to pass

in the watch

bə·’aš·mō·reṯ

בְּאַשְׁמֹ֣רֶת

of the morning

way·yaš·qêp̄

וַיַּשְׁקֵ֤ף

of the Egyptians

through the pillar

and of the cloud

and panicked

the Egyptians

And he took off

from their chariots

mar·kə·ḇō·ṯāw,

מַרְכְּבֹתָ֔יו

and they drove

way·na·hă·ḡê·hū

וַֽיְנַהֲגֵ֖הוּ

with difficulty

the Egyptians

from the face

against the Egyptians

bə·miṣ·rā·yim

בְּמִצְרָֽיִם

and may come again

that the waters

the Egyptians

their chariots

their horsemen

פָּרָשָֽׁיו׃

And stretched forth

and returned

to its normal place

lə·’ê·ṯā·nōw,

לְאֵ֣יתָנ֔וֹ

and the Egyptians

ū·miṣ·ra·yim

וּמִצְרַ֖יִם

and overthrew

and the LORD

the Egyptians

in the midst

And returned

way·yā·šu·ḇū

וַיָּשֻׁ֣בוּ

the chariots

the horsemen

hap·pā·rā·šîm,

הַפָּ֣רָשִׁ֔ים

’a·ḥă·rê·hem

into the sea

there remained

But the children

on dry [land]

ḇay·yab·bā·šāh

בַיַּבָּשָׁ֖ה

in the middle

and the waters

wə·ham·ma·yim

on their right

and on their left

ū·miś·śə·mō·lām

וּמִשְּׂמֹאלָֽם

way·yō·wō·ša‘

from the hand

of the Egyptians

the Egyptians

hag·gə·ḏō·lāh,

against the Egyptians

bə·miṣ·ra·yim,

בְּמִצְרַ֔יִם

way·yî·rə·’ū

וַיִּֽירְא֥וּ

and believed
