II seemingly intr., in Act., show light, dawn, ἡμέρας ἐπιφαινούσης Plb. 5.6.6 (so ἀνατολῆς ἐπιφαινομένης Id. 3.113.1); ἐπιφᾶναι τοῖς ἐν σκότει καθημένοις to shine upon..,Luke 1:79, cf. LXX Deuteronomy 33:2.

ἐπιφαίνω is used of the ";epiphany"; of the goddess Artemis Leukophryene in a Magnesian inscr. not before B.C. 200, Syll 256.6 ἐπιφαινομένης αὐτοῖς Ἀρτέμι [δο ]ς Λε [υκοφρυηνῆς : cf. Titus 2:11; Titus 3:4. See also Syll 802.26 (iii/B.C.) ἐπιφανέντα [τ ]ὸν θεὸν ἐφαλέσθαι ἐπὶ τὰν χῆρα καὶ ἐκτεῖναί οὑ τοὺς δακτύ [λ ]ους, of a temple-vision by which a man with powerless fingers was healed.
