פֹּעַל with suff. פָּעֳלוֹ, פָּעָלְךָ (poölcha) more rarely פֹּעֲלוֹ Isaiah 1:31; Jeremiah 22:13 plur. פְּעָלִים 1 Chronicles 11:22, i.q. מַעֲשֶׂה; but (with few exceptions) only in poetry.
(1) a deed, act (That); as of men, Psalms 28:4; Proverbs 24:12, 29 Proverbs 24:29 of God, Psalms 64:10 specially an illustrious deed, 2 Samuel 23:20 an evil deed, Job 36:9 (Arab. فَعَلَةُ id.).
(2) a work (Werk), which any one produces. פֹּעַל יָדַי the work of my hands (i.e. Israel), Isaiah 45:11. Specially used of divine punishments, Isaiah 5:12; Habakkuk 1:5, 3:2 (compare מַעֲשֶׂה No. 3, a); need of the divine aid, Psalms 90:16.
(3) that which is produced by labour, Proverbs 21:6 wages, Job 7:2; Jeremiah 22:13. Compare פְּעֻלָּה No. 2.
