Indeed God speaks once,Or twice, yet no one perceives it.

"Wait for me a little, and I will show youThat there is yet more to be said in God's behalf.

Yet You have made him a little lower than the angels,And You crown him with glory and majesty!

Yet You are holy,Enthroned upon the praises of Israel.

Yet You are He who brought me out of the womb;You made me trust when upon my mother's breasts.

Yet a little while and the wicked man will be no more;You will look carefully at his place, and he will not be there.

I was young and now I am old,Yet I have not seen the righteous forsakenOr his seed begging bread.

Yet You have rejected us and brought us to dishonor,And do not go out with our armies.

Yet You have crushed us in a place of jackalsAnd covered us with the shadow of death.

His speech was smoother than butter,But his heart was war;His words were softer than oil,Yet they were drawn swords.

You made men ride over our heads;We went through fire and through water,Yet You brought us out into a place of abundance.

But as for me, I will wait continually,And will praise You yet more and more.

Yet God is my King from of old,Who works deeds of salvation in the midst of the earth.

That the generation to come might know, even the children yet to be born,That they may arise and recount them to their children,

The sons of Ephraim were archers equipped with bows,Yet they turned back in the day of battle.

Yet they still continued to sin against Him,To rebel against the Most High in the desert.

Yet He commanded the skies aboveAnd opened the doors of heaven;

Yet they tested and rebelled against the Most High GodAnd did not keep His testimonies,

As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years,Or if due to might, eighty years,Yet their pride is but labor and wickedness;For soon it is gone and we fly away.

O Yahweh our God, You answered them;You were a forgiving God to them,And yet an avenger of their evil deeds.
