(1) disease (from the root חָלָה No. 3), whether internal, Deuteronomy 7:15, 28:61 or external, Isaiah 1:5.

(2) affliction, sadness, Ecclesiastes 5:16, חָלְיוֹ for חֳלִי לוֹ.
