for I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see, and have not seen it, and to hear what you hear, and have not heard it."

Matthew 6:22,23">[xr] "No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a secret place or under a basket, but on a lampstand, that those who come in may see the light.

Matthew 16:1-4">[xr] Then He also said to the multitudes, "Whenever you see a cloud rising out of the west, immediately you say, "A shower is coming'; and so it is.

And when you see the south wind blow, you say, "There will be hot weather'; and there is.

There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out.

35 See! Your house is left to you desolate; and assuredly, [fn] I say to you, you shall not see Me until the time comes when you say, 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!' " Psalms 118:26">[fn]

But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, "I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.'

lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him,

nor will they say, 'See here!' or 'See there!' [fn] For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you."

Then He said to the disciples, "The days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.

Then Peter said, "See, we have left all [fn] and followed You."

And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature.

So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way.

"Then the owner of the vineyard said, "What shall I do? I will send my beloved son. Probably they will respect him when they see him.'

"These things which you see--the days will come in which not one stone shall be left upon another that shall not be thrown down."

Matthew 24:15-28; Mark 13:14-23">[xr] "But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near.

Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near.

So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near.

Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad; for he had desired for a long time to see Him, because he had heard many things about Him, and he hoped to see some miracle done by Him.
