For you have forsaken your people the house of Jacob, because they are filled [with customs] from the east, and [are] omen interpreters like the Philistines, and they strike hands with the children of foreigners.

For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen; because their tongue and their doings are against Yahweh, to provoke the eyes of his glory.

Moreover Yahweh said, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with outstretched necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet;

Therefore as the tongue of fire devours the stubble, and as the dry grass sinks down in the flame, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust; because they have rejected the law of Yahweh of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

Then I said, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for my eyes have seen the King, Yahweh of hosts.

and say to him, Take heed, and be quiet; don't be afraid, neither let your heart be faint, because of these two tails of smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.

Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have purposed evil against you, saying,

and it shall come to pass, that because of the abundance of milk which they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the midst of the land.

With arrows and with bow shall one come there, because all the land shall be briers and thorns.

You shall not be joined with them in burial, because you have destroyed your land, you have slain your people; the seed of evil-doers shall not be named forever.

Don't rejoice, O Philistia, all of you, because the rod that smote you is broken; for out of the serpent's root shall come forth an adder, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.

In that day the Egyptians shall be like women; and they shall tremble and fear because of the shaking of the hand of Yahweh of hosts, which he shakes over them.

And the land of Judah shall become a terror to Egypt; every one to whom mention is made thereof shall be afraid, because of the purpose of Yahweh of hosts, which he purposes against it.

And it shall be for a sign and for a witness to Yahweh of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they shall cry to Yahweh because of oppressors, and he will send them a savior, and a defender, and he will deliver them.

And they shall be dismayed and confounded, because of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.

The earth also is polluted under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, broken the everlasting covenant.

There is a crying in the streets because of the wine; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.

You will keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on you]; because he trusts in you.

Because you have said, We have made a covenant with death, and we are at agreement with Sheol; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come to us; for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood we have hid ourselves:

They shall all be ashamed because of a people that can't profit them, that are not a help nor profit, but a shame, and also a reproach.
