so He will sprinkle many nations. Kings will shut their mouths because of Him. For they will see what they have not been told, and they will understand what they have not heard.

Therefore I will allot Him a portion with the great, and He will divide the spoils with the strong, because He has poured out His life unto death, and He was numbered among the transgressors. Yet He bore the sin of many and made intercession for the transgressors.

"Shout for joy, O barren woman, who bears no children; break forth into song and cry aloud, you who have never travailed; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband," says the LORD.

Among the smooth stones of the valley is your portion; indeed, they are your lot. Even to them you have poured out a drink offering, you have offered a grain offering. Should I relent because of these?

Then you will look and be radiant, and your heart will tremble and rejoice, because the riches of the sea will be brought to you, and the wealth of the nations will come to you.

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is on Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and release from darkness to the prisoners,

I will make known the LORD's loving devotion and His praiseworthy acts, because of all the LORD has done for us-even the many good things He has done for the house of Israel according to His compassion and the abundance of His loving devotion.

Because faithless Israel had committed adultery, I gave her a certificate of divorce and sent her away. Yet I saw that her unfaithful sister Judah had no fear and prostituted herself as well.

A voice is heard on the barren heights, the children of Israel weeping and begging for mercy, because they have perverted their ways and forgotten the LORD their God.

Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, remove the foreskins of your hearts, O men of Judah and people of Jerusalem. Otherwise, My wrath will break out like fire and burn with no one to extinguish it, because of your evil deeds."

They surround her like men guarding a field, because she has rebelled against Me, declares the LORD.

Your ways and your deeds have brought this upon you. This is your punishment. How bitter it is, because it pierces to the heart!"

Therefore this is what the Lord GOD of Hosts says: "Because you have spoken this word, I will make My words a fire in your mouth and this people the wood it will consume.

But go now to the place in Shiloh where I first made a dwelling for My name, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of My people Israel.

And now, because you have done all these things, declares the LORD, and because I have spoken to you time and time again but you would not listen, and I have called to you but you would not answer,
