Tell us what we should say to him. We cannot prepare a case because of the darkness.

Will you rely on it because its strength is great? Will you commit your labor to it?

Therefore I despise myself, and I repent in dust and ashes! After the Lord had spoken these things to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, "My anger is stirred up against you and your two friends, because you have not spoken about me what is right, as my servant Job has. So now take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and offer a burnt offering for yourselves. And my servant Job will intercede for you, and I will respect him, so that I do not deal with you according to your folly, because you have not spoken about me what is right, as my servant Job has." So they went, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite, and did just as the Lord had told them; and the Lord had respect for Job. So the Lord restored what Job had lost after he prayed for his friends, and the Lord doubled all that had belonged to Job. So they came to him, all his brothers and sisters and all who had known him before, and they dined with him in his house. They comforted him and consoled him for all the trouble the Lord had brought on him, and each one gave him a piece of silver and a gold ring. So the Lord blessed the second part of Job's life more than the first. He had 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys. And he also had seven sons and three daughters. The first daughter he named Jemimah, the second Keziah, and the third Keren-Happuch. Nowhere in all the land could women be found who were as beautiful as Job's daughters, and their father granted them an inheritance alongside their brothers. After this Job lived 140 years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation. And so Job died, old and full of days.

Give sincere homage! Otherwise he will be angry, and you will die because of your behavior, when his anger quickly ignites. How blessed are all who take shelter in him!

But as for me, because of your great faithfulness I will enter your house; I will bow down toward your holy temple as I worship you.

Lord , lead me in your righteousness because of those who wait to ambush me, remove the obstacles in the way in which you are guiding me!

Condemn them, O God! May their own schemes be their downfall! Drive them away because of their many acts of insurrection, for they have rebelled against you.

Relent, Lord , rescue me! Deliver me because of your faithfulness!

My eyes grow dim from suffering; they grow weak because of all my enemies.

The Lord judges the nations. Vindicate me, Lord , because I am innocent, because I am blameless, O Exalted One!

Then I will tell about all your praiseworthy acts; in the gates of Daughter Zion I will rejoice because of your deliverance."

Yes, the wicked man boasts because he gets what he wants; the one who robs others curses and rejects the Lord .

He says to himself, "I will never be upended, because I experience no calamity."

Lord , you have heard the request of the oppressed; you make them feel secure because you listen to their prayer.

"Because of the violence done to the oppressed, because of the painful cries of the needy, I will spring into action," says the Lord . "I will provide the safety they so desperately desire."

Then my enemy will say, "I have defeated him!" Then my foes will rejoice because I am upended.

But I trust in your faithfulness. May I rejoice because of your deliverance!

I constantly trust in the Lord ; because he is at my right hand, I will not be upended.
