Now I know that the Lord is greater than all gods, because in this affair they dealt arrogantly with the people."

And Moses said to his father-in-law, "Because the people come to me to inquire of God;

Now Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke because the Lord had descended on it in fire. The smoke of it went up like the smoke of a kiln, and the whole mountain trembled greatly.

"When a man strikes the eye of his slave, male or female, and destroys it, he shall let the slave go free because of his eye.

If he knocks out the tooth of his slave, male or female, he shall let the slave go free because of his tooth.

They shall eat those things with which atonement was made at their ordination and consecration, but an outsider shall not eat of them, because they are holy.

And if any of the flesh for the ordination or of the bread remain until the morning, then you shall burn the remainder with fire. It shall not be eaten, because it is holy.

You shall keep the Sabbath, because it is holy for you. Everyone who profanes it shall be put to death. Whoever does any work on it, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

Then the Lord sent a plague on the people, because they made the calf, the one that Aaron made.

When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand as he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God.

And Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud settled on it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

You shall eat it in a holy place, because it is your due and your sons' due, from the Lord 's food offerings, for so I am commanded.

Nevertheless, among those that chew the cud or part the hoof, you shall not eat these: The camel, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you.

And the rock badger, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you.

And the hare, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you.

And the pig, because it parts the hoof and is cloven-footed but does not chew the cud, is unclean to you.

Thus he shall make atonement for the Holy Place, because of the uncleannesses of the people of Israel and because of their transgressions, all their sins. And so he shall do for the tent of meeting, which dwells with them in the midst of their uncleannesses.

And this shall be a statute forever for you, that atonement may be made for the people of Israel once in the year because of all their sins." And Aaron did as the Lord commanded Moses.

and everyone who eats it shall bear his iniquity, because he has profaned what is holy to the Lord , and that person shall be cut off from his people.

"You shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason frankly with your neighbor, lest you incur sin because of him.
