And it came to pass

לִתְשׁוּבַ֨ת

after the year

הַמַּלְאֿכִ֗ים

וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח

[to battle] that David

his servants

and they destroyed

way·yaš·ḥi·ṯū

וַיַּשְׁחִ֙תוּ֙

the children

and besieged

way·yā·ṣu·rū

at Jerusalem

bî·rū·šā·lim.

בִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

And it came to pass

in an evening

from his bed

מִשְׁכָּבוֹ֙

way·yiṯ·hal·lêḵ

וַיִּתְהַלֵּךְ֙

and the women

wə·hā·’iš·šāh,

וְהָ֣אִשָּׁ֔ה

in appearance [was]

וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח

and inquired

וַיִּדְרֹ֖שׁ

after the women

[one] And said

the daughter

וַיִּשְׁלַח֩

and took her

way·yiq·qā·ḥe·hā,

וַיִּקָּחֶ֗הָ

and she came

וַיִּשְׁכַּ֣ב

when she had purified

miṯ·qad·de·šeṯ

מִתְקַדֶּ֖שֶׁת

from her uncleanness

miṭ·ṭum·’ā·ṯāh;

מִטֻּמְאָתָ֑הּ

and she returned

And conceived

וַתִּשְׁלַח֙

[am] with child

וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח

[saying] sent

וַיִּשְׁלַ֥ח

when was come

and demanded him

וַיִּשְׁאַ֣ל

concerning the welfare

[of him] how Joab

wə·liš·lō·wm

וְלִשְׁל֣וֹם

how the people

and prospered

wə·liš·lō·wm

וְלִשְׁל֖וֹם

ham·mil·ḥā·māh.

הַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃

lə·’ū·rî·yāh,

לְא֣וּרִיָּ֔ה

to your house

And departed

from the king

and was sent

out after him

[of meat] from the king

וַיִּשְׁכַּ֣ב

the servants

to his house

when they had told

way·yag·gi·ḏū

וַיַּגִּ֤דוּ

from a journey

wə·yiś·rā·’êl

וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֨ל

in temporary

bas·suk·kō·wṯ,

בַּסֻּכּ֗וֹת

and the servants

then shall I

and to drink

wə·liš·tō·wṯ

וְלִשְׁתּ֖וֹת

וְלִשְׁכַּ֣ב

[as] and your soul

and tomorrow

I will let you depart

’ă·šal·lə·ḥe·kā;

אֲשַׁלְּחֶ֑ךָּ

in Jerusalem

ḇî·rū·šā·lim

בִירוּשָׁלִַ֛ם

and the next day

ū·mim·mā·ḥo·rāṯ.

וּמִֽמָּחֳרָֽת׃

and had called

when David him

and drink him

וַיֵּ֖שְׁתְּ

and he made him drunk

way·šak·kə·rê·hū;

וַֽיְשַׁכְּרֵ֑הוּ

and he went out

bə·miš·kā·ḇōw

בְּמִשְׁכָּבוֹ֙

the servants

and down unto

to his house

And it came to pass

in the morning

וַיִּכְתֹּ֥ב

and sent [it]

וַיִּשְׁלַ֖ח

And he wrote

וַיִּכְתֹּ֥ב

in the letter

the forefront

ham·mil·ḥā·māh

הַמִּלְחָמָה֙

of the hottest

ha·ḥă·zā·qāh,

and retire you

וְשַׁבְתֶּ֥ם

mê·’a·ḥă·rāw

that he may be struck

And it came to pass

that he assigned

ham·mā·qō·wm

And went out

way·yê·ṣə·’ū

וַיֵּ֨צְא֜וּ

way·yil·lā·ḥă·mū

וַיִּלָּחֲמ֣וּ

and there fell

[some] the people

of the servants

וַיִּשְׁלַ֖ח

concerning the war

ham·mil·ḥā·māh.

הַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃

the messenger

הַמַּלְאָ֖ךְ

When you have finished

kə·ḵal·lō·wṯ·ḵā,

כְּכַלּוֹתְךָ֗

ham·mil·ḥā·māh

הַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה

of that the king

approached you

נִגַּשְׁתֶּ֥ם

so near unto

to fight you

lə·hil·lā·ḥêm;

they would shoot

ha·ḥō·w·māh.

’ă·ḇî·me·leḵ

אֲבִימֶ֣לֶךְ

of Jerubbesheth

yə·rub·be·šeṯ,

יְרֻבֶּ֗שֶׁת

הִשְׁלִ֣יכָה

of a millstone him

that he died

went you near

נִגַּשְׁתֶּ֖ם

ha·ḥō·w·māh;

wə·’ā·mar·tā,

וְאָ֣מַרְתָּ֔

your servant

the messenger

ham·mal·’āḵ;

הַמַּלְאָ֑ךְ

the messenger

הַמַּלְאָךְ֙

hā·’ă·nā·šîm,

הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֔ים

and came out

way·yê·ṣə·’ū

into the field

the entering

[way·yō·rə·’ū

[ham·mō·wr·’îm

[הַמֹּורְאִים

(ham·mō·w·rîm

(הַמֹּורִ֤ים

your servants

ha·ḥō·w·māh,

way·yā·mū·ṯū

וַיָּמ֖וּתוּ

of [some] and [some] of the king

your servant

the messenger

ham·mal·’āḵ,

הַמַּלְאָ֗ךְ

shall you say

do let displease

בְּעֵינֶ֙יךָ֙

as well as another

make your battle

mil·ḥam·tə·ḵā

מִלְחַמְתְּךָ֧

and overthrow

wə·hā·rə·sāh

and encourage

wə·ḥaz·zə·qê·hū.

וְחַזְּקֵֽהוּ׃

וַתִּשְׁמַע֙

that Uriah her

and she mourned

וַתִּסְפֹּ֖ד

when was past

way·ya·‘ă·ḇōr

the mourning

וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח

and fetched her

way·ya·’as·p̄āh

וַיַּאַסְפָ֤הּ

and she became

but was evil

in the sight
