The LORD said to Kayin, "Where is Hevel, your brother?" He said, "I don't know. Am I my brother's keeper?"

The LORD said, "I will destroy man whom I have created from the surface of the ground; man, along with animals, creeping things, and birds of the sky; for I am sorry that I have made them."

After these things the word of the LORD came to Avram in a vision, saying, "Don't be afraid, Avram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward."

He said to him, "I am the LORD who brought you out of Ur of the Kasdim, to give you this land to inherit it."

He said, "Hagar, Sarai's handmaid, where did you come from? Where are you going?" She said, "I am fleeing from the face of my mistress Sarai."

When Avram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Avram, and said to him, "I am El Shaddai. Walk before me, and be blameless.

The LORD said to Avraham, "Why did Sarah laugh, saying, 'Will I really bear a child, yet I am old?'

Avraham answered, "See now, I have taken it on myself to speak to the Lord, who am but dust and ashes.

It happened after these things, that God tested Avraham, and said to him, "Avraham!" He said, "Here I am."

Yitzchak spoke to Avraham his father, and said, "My father?" He said, "Here I am, my son." He said, "Here is the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?"

The angel of the LORD called to him out of the sky, and said, "Avraham, Avraham!" He said, "Here I am."

"I am a stranger and a sojourner with you. Give me a possession of a burying-place with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight."

Behold, I am standing by the spring of water. The daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water.

She said to him, "I am the daughter of Betu'el the son of Milkah, whom she bore to Nachor."

He said, "I am Avraham's servant.

Behold, I am standing by the spring of water. Let it happen, that the almah who comes forth to draw, to whom I will say, Give me, I pray you, a little water from your pitcher to drink.

Esav said to Ya`akov, "Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am famished." Therefore his name was called Edom.

Esav said, "Behold, I am about to die. What good is the birthright to me?"

The LORD appeared to him the same night, and said, "I am the God of Avraham your father. Don't be afraid, for I am with you, and will bless you, and multiply your seed for my servant Avraham's sake."

It happened, that when Yitzchak was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esav his elder son, and said to him, "My son?" He said to him, "Here I am."
