So God said to Noah, "I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.

So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out.

But the dove could find nowhere to perch because there was water over all the surface of the earth; so it returned to Noah in the ark. He reached out his hand and took the dove and brought it back to himself in the ark.

Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you—the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground—so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number on it."

So Noah came out, together with his sons and his wife and his sons' wives.

So God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth."

But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father's naked body. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father naked.

Then they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth."

Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other."

So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city.

So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran.

The Lord appeared to Abram and said, "To your offspring I will give this land." So he built an altar there to the Lord , who had appeared to him.

Say you are my sister, so that I will be treated well for your sake and my life will be spared because of you."

So Pharaoh summoned Abram. "What have you done to me?" he said. "Why didn't you tell me she was your wife?

Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,' so that I took her to be my wife? Now then, here is your wife. Take her and go!"

So Abram went up from Egypt to the Negev, with his wife and everything he had, and Lot went with him.

But the land could not support them while they stayed together, for their possessions were so great that they were not able to stay together.

So Abram said to Lot, "Let's not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herders and mine, for we are close relatives.

So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company:

I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted.
