I, the LORD, am its keeper; I water it continually. I guard it night and day so no one can disturb it.

Then the word of the LORD will come to them: "Order on order, order on order, line on line, line on line, a little here, a little there," so that they will go stumbling backward and be injured, snared, and captured.

So this is what the Lord GOD says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; the one who believes will never be shaken.

So now, do not mock, or your shackles will become heavier. Indeed, I have heard from the Lord GOD of Hosts a decree of destruction against the whole land.

as when a hungry man dreams he is eating, then wakes and is still hungry. And like a thirsty man dreams he is drinking, then awakens faint and parched, so it will be for all the many nations who go to battle against Mount Zion.

It will break in pieces like a potter's jar, shattered so that no fragment can be found. Not a shard will be found in the dust large enough to scoop the coals from a hearth or to skim the water from a cistern."

So you will desecrate your silver-plated idols and your gold-plated images. You will throw them away like menstrual cloths, saying, "Be gone!"

For this is what the LORD has said to me: "Like a lion roaring or a young lion over its prey-and though a band of shepherds is called out against it, it is not terrified by their shouting or subdued by their clamor-so the LORD of Hosts will come down to do battle on Mount Zion and its heights.

Like birds hovering overhead, so the LORD of Hosts will protect Jerusalem. He will shield it and deliver it; He will pass over it and preserve it."

Return to Him against whom you have so blatantly rebelled, O children of Israel.

So now, was it apart from the LORD that I have come up against this land to destroy it? The LORD Himself said to me, 'Go up against this land and destroy it.'"

So the servants of King Hezekiah went to Isaiah,

Behold, I will put a spirit in him so that he will hear a rumor and return to his own land, where I will cause him to fall by the sword.'"

So Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers, read it, and went up to the house of the LORD and spread it out before the LORD.

And now, O LORD our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You alone, O LORD, are God."

So this is what the LORD says about the king of Assyria: 'He will not enter this city or shoot an arrow into it. He will not come before it with a shield or build up a siege ramp against it.

So Sennacherib king of Assyria broke camp and withdrew. He returned home to Nineveh and stayed there.

I will make the sun's shadow that falls on the stairway of Ahaz go ten steps backward." So the shadow cast by the sun went back the ten steps it had descended.

The craftsman encourages the goldsmith, and he who wields the hammer cheers him who strikes the anvil, saying of the soldering, "It is good." He nails it down so it will not be toppled.

so that all may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the LORD has done this, the Holy One of Israel has created it.
