The man replied, ‘I owe him 800 gallons of olive oil.' So the manager told him, ‘Take the bill and quickly change it to 400 gallons.'

"The rich man had to admire the dishonest rascal for being so shrewd. And it is true that the children of this world are more shrewd in dealing with the world around them than are the children of the light.

"But Abraham said to him, ‘Son, remember that during your lifetime you had everything you wanted, and Lazarus had nothing. So now he is here being comforted, and you are in anguish.

For I have five brothers, and I want him to warn them so they don't end up in this place of torment.'

So watch yourselves! "If another believer sins, rebuke that person; then if there is repentance, forgive.

For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other, so it will be on the day when the Son of Man comes.

"Where will this happen, Lord?" the disciples asked. Jesus replied, "Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near."

Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don't you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?

One day some parents brought their little children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But when the disciples saw this, they scolded the parents for bothering him.

So he began shouting, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"

So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree beside the road, for Jesus was going to pass that way.

"‘Well done!' the king exclaimed. ‘You are a good servant. You have been faithful with the little I entrusted to you, so you will be governor of ten cities as your reward.'

So they went and found the colt, just as Jesus had said.

So they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their garments over it for him to ride on.

So they finally replied that they didn't know.

So the owner sent another servant, but they also insulted him, beat him up, and sent him away empty-handed.

So they dragged him out of the vineyard and murdered him. "What do you suppose the owner of the vineyard will do to them?" Jesus asked.

Watching for their opportunity, the leaders sent spies pretending to be honest men. They tried to get Jesus to say something that could be reported to the Roman governor so he would arrest Jesus.

So they failed to trap him by what he said in front of the people. Instead, they were amazed by his answer, and they became silent.

So the second brother married the widow, but he also died.
