So they watched Him closely and sent spies who pretended to be sincere. They were hoping to catch Him in His words in order to hand Him over to the rule and authority of the governor.

So Jesus told them, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's."

So they went and found it just as Jesus had told them. And they prepared the Passover.

So Jesus declared, "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in authority over them call themselves benefactors.

so that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

So they said, "Look, Lord, here are two swords." "That is enough," He answered.

"Why are you sleeping?" He asked. "Get up and pray so that you will not enter into temptation."

So they all asked, "Are You then the Son of God?" He replied, "You say that I am."

So Pilate asked Him, "Are You the King of the Jews?" "You have said so," Jesus replied.

A third time he said to them, "What evil has this man done? I have found in Him no offense worthy of death. So after I punish Him, I will release Him."

So Pilate sentenced that their demand be met.

He asked them, "What are you discussing so intently as you walk along?" They stood still, with sadness on their faces.

But they pleaded with Him, "Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over." So He went in to stay with them.

So they gave Him a piece of broiled fish,

He came as a witness to testify about the Light, so that through him everyone might believe.
