Did that which is good, then, become death to me? Certainly not! But in order that sin might be exposed as sin, it produced death in me through what was good, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful.

So this is the principle I have discovered: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me.

Thanks be to God, through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with my mind I serve the law of God, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.

so that the righteous standard of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God: It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.

And if we are children, then we are heirs: heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ-if indeed we suffer with Him, so that we may also be glorified with Him.

For those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers.

So it is not the children of the flesh who are God's children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as offspring.

So it is written: "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated."

So then, it does not depend on man's desire or effort, but on God's mercy.

May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see, and their backs be bent forever."

I ask then, did they stumble so as to lose their share? Certainly not! However, because of their trespass, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel jealous.

If the first part of the dough is holy, so is the whole batch; if the root is holy, so are the branches.

You will say then, "Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in."

I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers, so that you will not be conceited: A hardening in part has come to Israel, until the full number of the Gentiles has come in.

And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: "The Deliverer will come from Zion; He will remove godlessness from Jacob.

so they too have now disobeyed, in order that they too may now receive mercy through the mercy shown to you.

For God has consigned all men to disobedience so that He may have mercy on them all.

so in Christ we who are many are one body, and each member belongs to one another.

On the contrary, "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink. For in so doing, you will heap burning coals on his head."
